Removal / Cardboard Boxes

Options
Does anyone know where I might be able to buy reasonably priced but durable cardboard boxes for moving?

Recommendations for websites would be most welcome.

Thank you.

Just call local removal companies and they'll supply some.

I like using banana boxes from the local supermarket. Great for books and crockery, especially when they have lids. I stalked the local supermarket for a few months before my move, got most of what I needed! Ebay is great for a massive roll of cheap bubble wrap.

I know it's not answering your question, but we got quite a few on our local Freecycle group. But as Caroline73 said, the best option is local removal firms. We paid £1.20 per box, the places that sell online charge a LOT more that that.

I've said thie before somewhere on here, but archive boxes are brilliant - strong, collapsible, durable, and you can't really overfill them. We bought a few dozen a few years ago and they're still going strong after loads of moves (and being used as furniture lol). Definitely a good investment.

I moved last year and got mine free from a warehouse (Lindens direct) in a nearby industrial site.
They were thick strong boxes and done the trick - no breakages at all!

Why not? I've used them several times and never had a problem! And the boxes are pretty decent, 1 medium size box alone from Mad4boxes has easily held at least 80 DVD's and not come close to collapsing, and DVD's in bulk are heavy!

They are not proper removal boxes eg they are single ply and not double ply.

They are very poor quality, you may be able to get 80 dvds in the boxes but as they are very thin they will not stack properly in a van and will crush. If you use a professional removal company it slows them down and can mean if you have a lot of stuff they may not be able to get everything in the van.

They normally cannot be used again unlike normal removal boxes which can be used for many moves.

I do some removal work and whenever we see the client has bought mad4boxes we have to be extra careful with them.

Have a look at one of their boxes compared to a normal removal box.

They are a false economy, it's worth paying a little more to get decent boxes or failing that you may as well use normal boxes from a supermarket as they are the same quality or in a lot of cases better quality
