Away back a few weeks a few of us all had probs with Windows updates slowing down the computer on Windows 7. Mine updated yesterday and now things are slow and I sometimes cant get onto sites. How can I fix this please - I forgot what advice was given the last time.

System restore back to just before the updates?
Then apply the updates one by one until you find the problem one.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I dont know how to do that, I've never done it. Scarey LOL!0

Click start then run, type rstrui.exe then click OK
Give it a minute to start system restore, put the dot in choose a different restore point, then look for one which is before the updates
You could also click start, control panel, uninstall a programme, click view installed updates, then remove the ones recently installed, they are listed by installation date0 -
brilliant thanks, I will do that last thing.0

Why should updates slow the computer?? That is ridiculous with specs like these:4GB memory, intel (R)core i3 CPU, and 64bit operating system.
Let's take a general look:
Download, install, update and run a Quick Scan with Malwarebytes' AntiMalware. When complete, choose 'Remove Selected' if there is anything to remove and Reboot your computer.
After restart, open the program again and go to 'Logs'. Double click on the log produced for today and post the contents here.
Next, download and save both the Installer and the executable of HijackThis and use the Quick Start guide to enable you to produce a log for posting here too. You'll need to install(the installer) and run the(.exe as Administrator by right clicking on the downloaded .exe file and choosing 'Run as Administrator once downloaded and saved.)0 -

Whilst I don't see anything terrible within your logs, you don't appears to have installed your updates at all. Windows 7, should be Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Internet Explorer 8 would be Internet Explorer 9.
Did the problem begin when you installed Rapport? I might also consider using another antivirus solution.0 -
I thought the updates were installing themselves !
I never use IE, would that matter? I can try removing Rapport. Maybe I'm expecting too much - but this noticeably slower than my previous laptop- and I cant watch TvCatchup now whereas I did before.
Take out Bullguard?
TY for patience !0 -

Did you pay for Bullguard? If not, download and install and save ESET Smart Security to your Desktop. (You will need a Trial username and password to enable you to do so. I have sent those to your Private Message inbox.) Don't install yet.
Once saved, you can move forward with the removal of Rapport and Bullguard via Control Panel > Programs & Features.
Once complete, reboot and begin the ESET installation. Use the Trial username and password supplied to register. Opt out of Threatsense, though choose to Disable potentially unwanted applications.
Post another HijackThis log when complete and of course check for improvements(or otherwise).
What model number your laptop? Lenovo ******?0
