Anyone having problems with their TalkTalk Broadband?

I've just installed the TalkTalk for "high-speed" broadband internet disc with TalkTalk.

I've tried launching a webpage and when it attempts to load a page it is so incredibly slooooooowwwwww it downloads about 1/4 page and then times out because it has taken so long.

I am now using my dial-up connection as it so much faster.

I phoned the call centre and they said they have been having problems with it for the last six days. Anyone else having problems with their TalkTalk broadband at the moment? I've only just installed it a day or two ago, and so far it has not been useable...

hi,i have not been able to access their email service on outlook express since saturday but the broadband seems o.k. though
  • There are not many people who have received a fault free service ... although the package is attractive, I'm afraid there is a price to be paid..... Talk Talk's customer service is abysmal.... I could give you my story but its being scripted for a 3 hour blockbuster disaster movie.....

My advice for what it's worth...don't bother calling the technical support line, you end up with an Indian jabbering broken English, apoligising, keeping you on hold and then being cut off.... all for 10p per minute. Best go through the options and when she says, "thinking of transferring or cancelling contract" press the number which puts you through to an English person who may be of some help.

Good Luck.... You will need it !

Did you not read up about the appalling service before you signed up?

For what it's worth, on the 2nd Dec, and every day since, I have kept a note of my attempts to connect and the actual success, take a look at this,

    ie "A" attempt "C" connection

    18A 7C
    13A 2C
    15A 2C
    21A 5C
    12A 3C
    12C 6C
    11A 5C
    11A 7C
    9A 2C
    6A 4C
    4A 4C
    13A 5C
    4A 2C
    6A 2C
    1A 1C
    3A 2C
    8A 4C
    5A 2C
    6A 2C

You might be interested in this also, when I say attempt, I don't mean a straightforward double clic on the icon, in most cases it is a case of going through a long list of procedures which appear in talktalk boxes, as in clic on this then clic on that, then reboot etc. The old blue screen surfaces from time to time saying I haven't closed down correctly, that's because quite often the curser freezes and nothing happens.

I despair of calling talktalk and I regret ever responding to their claim of free broadband forever.

If I felt I understood laptops connection sufficiently and that it would work ok,I'd invest in one and dump this.

In a perfect world, the cable and speedtouch router would connect to the laptop and with power, off I'd go, but I am of the opinion that I need a talktalk software disc to install, but I haven't got one.

Go to https://www.thinkbroadband.com (adslguide) if you haven't already done so. Register (top right hand corner), after registering go to Discussion - forums (main site left hand side) select Search (top of page) under Forum Category to Search, select TalkTalkbroadband. Under Date Range you can select how far back you want to go, then click submit.

You may find the answer to your problem here, if not post what the problem is. There are a couple of people from talktalk on here (unoffically) who are helping out.

For anybody else out there with talktalk broadband problems, this is a good site for information and tackling problems, very helpful. You don't have to register to read the forums.

I'm glad to say my experince with talktalk broadband so far has been good, only problem has been losing the caller ID after being LLU'ed. Hoping to get this back sometime.

You don't need their software disc, threw my brothers away as it was causing more problems then it was worth. We downloaded a new set of speedtouch drivers and set it up manually. Been fine ever since.
  • Talktalk system is seriously overloaded as they didn't anticipate the number of users signing up to there service, solution is to move on. If your using broadband the ratio of numbers of users per line should be 50, talktalk will be 250 users per line, no the wonder the system, when it's up, is slow.
