Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 25th July 2011. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone - another wet day here today - pity really as its the school fair today - but at least I'm inside with the silent auction. Made all my cakes yesterday and helped set up yesterday evening. Got to get there for 9am this morning to finish setting up - then 12 - 2 will be manic then clearing up.
Curry, Naan & Saag Aloo for tea - all from the freezer as I'll be shattered. Have a good day all xx Jackie O - have PM'd you x

Morning everyone too.
Been away from home so long that it's lovely to be in my own bed and not another hotel room. Next week I will be staying put!
Rainy here but with a promise of sunshine later.
Washing machine is on and I'm off now for a haircut. Love my early morning appointments. :j
I will rummage in the freezer in a sec to see what's there for meals today. There's plenty of meat in the bottom of the drawers.
Lost the thread of the threadsso will need to spend some time today catching up. Have to scan in a whole portfolio for someone so my day will be productive!
Hope everyone has a good Saturday.0 -

Morning all
I had quite a good night with my friends yesterday. The meal was nice but although it's a posh restaurant, you have to go up to order at the desk and the bar so it was a pain getting up all the time! My flakey friend didn't want to go on anywhere after food so I dropped her home afterwards (she is a bit of a drama queen, and was all 'woe is me' cos she is single again and wants to be married by the time she is 30 next year :rotfl: ). I then picked up Toyboy on my way back.
I'm off to London today with the girls. We are going to see Glee tonight live on stage at the O2rather excited bout that! Not sure what we are doing Sunday yet.
It's pouring down here at the momentbut it's meant to be nice in London, and then the heatwave is coming
. Kinda making it awkward to pack though as not sure what to bring!
Bu88er all OS wise today!
Right better go pack, and evict Toyboy! :rotfl:
Have a great weekend all

Morning everyone,
The rain seems to have stopped here but it still looks gloomy out there, WM on so hopefully it will clear up later.
DD2 is away for the whole weekend at Pontins at Weston super mare at a netball tournament with her club, she was so excited about going as she didn't think that she would get picked for the team, she has rung me twice already since they got there to tell me exciting things!:D
Last night OH and I went out for a drink as we were temporarily childless, DS at cricket, DD1 dancing and DD2 away. It was really nice as we never normally get to sit and chat.
Today I am off to the supermarket and then it is cleaning.
Tea tonight will probably be the pork steaks that I have in the freezer.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Good Morning OS Friends xx
Rainy here overnight but dogs just back from their walk smelling distinctly.........doggy:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Just lit their candle to remove the aroma. I am reminded constantly that it will soon be christmas as my dogs favourite toy repeats "Ho Ho Ho...Merry..........." Exactly 6 months to the big day:eek::eek::eek:
Awaiting my Tesco shop today. Usual washing to be done. I have been out and fed my plants and am really enjoying eating homegrown veggies again. Yesterday I had broad beans, peas and green beans and they tasted divine :T:T:T. Really want to get some baking done this weekend but will see how i feel and who I can enlist to help me.
Hugs xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning :hello:
Hester, your wedding was wonderful
I applied for a Bookers cash and carry card the other day, still waiting for it to arrive but they gave me a temporary one yesterday. We were in there for ages, I marvelled at the wonderful prices of bread, loo roll, stationary and bacon. Mr tru got excited at the price of kid's sweetsI picked up most of our food shopping (have to be careful though, things like beans and tinned toms are more expensive than Morrison's, unless you buy the huge catering sizes - which I'll do when the freezers have been run down). Mr tru bought big boxes of Tuck Shop bananas, shrimps and strawberries - you know the ones, 2p sweeties, lol. I even resisted huge boxes of Cadbury's buttons, I bought 3 single packs from Morrison's instead.
Our 2 columbines have started laying. Just as well, I can't keep up with the demand for our eggs. I'm starting to think my true calling is to be a chicken farmer
There's loads of flowers on the tomato and broad bean plants. The spinach has gone nuts, I need to cut and freeze most of that. None of my cucumber plants grew. Beetroot is almost ready. The rest is coming on well, even though everything is smaller (or maybe just slower growing?) than the last few years.
I've re-done our budget but haven't told anyone else in the house, lol. If there's no visible money, they accept it. If there's some in a pot, I get nagged for it - "muuuuummm, can I borrow a tenner?" "muuuuuuuummm, have you got change for the bus?" "trrruuuuu, I haven't made any lunch, got a couple of quid for a sandwich?". So it will be hidden.
I've dug out The Tightwad Gazette and am going through it again. I tend to slip a bit, very gradually, without realising. Then I suddenly realise and dip back into my books and spreadsheets and put myself back on track. What with me starting permanent work, mr tru's new job and a couple of other changes, I'm waaaaay off at the moment. I need to get back to my cards and stationery properly too. I started making some new things and they've been left half done.Bulletproof0 -
Morning all
Been tipping down here but now appears to have stopped. Still in bed with big cat curled up next to me, love that. Woke up at 5am despite ear plugs and blackout curtains. The seagulls make such a racket here.
DS came back from meeting ExOH and his new girlfriend and thought she was ok but not as pretty as me. Love that boy he will go a long way in life. Really pleased last night to have my shopping delivered think I will do that more often and I saved money as I only bought what was on my list.
Hoping to get my washing on the line in a bit. Need to bake some bread. Off out tonight and DS is going for a sleepover.
Have a good day all and hugs to those who need one.

due to go to Spalding today to pick up a power steering ram for OH, just waiting for sesnsible time to call to check it's okay to come today.- he said he was working so couldn't go,but didn;t get in till 3 after a night with his friends last night, with a sore nose, think he was scrapping...
How much i do today depends on when i get home later! Hopefully put a few washes on and make a start on the spare bedroom tomorrow isn't so busy.
Dinner tonight is going to be a curry of some descripton depending on which pastes we have in the cupboard, with some rice and mini naan breads.
I have a Macro card - considering there will soon be 3 hungry people ni my house are their prices worth bulk buying with in terms of things like drinks, crisps, dried foods, etc?Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
Debt payments 2012 £433.270 -
