Hi all,
I'm asking this as I'm currently with 1and1, I've had not issues with them however I've just been getting into cms Joomla, phpbb and other things and what I found on 1and1 is that when I install Joomla for example on one domain it's actually installed across all domains, which isn't what I want. Apparently it is a 1and1 thing.
So I'm looking for a new host that can handle multiple domains (7 at the moment) and likely to be using multiple installs of Joomla etc across them.
Thanks,
Nox1

Hello
Like you I'm with 1and1 but looking to move as they keep messing up my billing then I have to spend weeks (and 6p per min!) sorting out their mistakes!
I've also about 7 domains although some are just forwards. I need a package with ASP and I'd like to try setting up a free CRM one day (probably VTiger).
I'm seriously thinking of moving to http://www.names.co.uk/hosting.html as I've heard lot's of good reports. I could take the professional package and get some more domains too.
My worry is I'm quite a loyal consumer and it's only now that 1and1 have really annoyed me that I've decided to move. So I'm unsure how it all works, and what I'm going to be charged, what contracts I'm in etc... still I'll find out I guess!!
These have also been suggested to me, http://www.godaddy.com/ and http://www.123-reg.co.uk.
I'm interested to know what you decide! Keep us informed pls as I may well copy you!!!0 -
I use godaddy.com for .com/net/org for registrations (best price I have found as they also always have discount codes) and 123reg.co.uk for .co.uk domain registrations (cashback from Quidco etc). For Cpanel hosting (Joomla etc) I am now using Justhost.com - already a good price but a code on the internet for 50% off (£80 or so for 5 years unlimited pretty much everything). Cashback on Topcashback though potentially problematic (according to the comments) for £45-65 which is an added bonus if it comes off.

Just a note about 123-reg. I am having problems with them as they insist on taking my money when I've requested that they cancel services for me because I haven't called them (I told them I was going abroad to a friends funeral and their phone service had shut when I called).
I've already asked them not to store my credit card details but everytime I renew a service I want they store the card details again, hence I've been stung as they have processed an auto-renewal with credit card details I asked them not to store in the first place.
Topcashback for 123 does come through but I've found it is way below the stated percentages they promise.
I'm going to be ringing to cancel the service they've renewed despite my emails to their support. Apparently I have to authenticate my request via phone - why not via a simple online form? Because they want me to call an 0845 number... hello saynoto0870..
I don't have to authenticate my request when I spend money...
I've asked what do they expect deaf service users to do and have not had a response.
They will autorenew services without your consent.
They will store your credit card destails without your consent.
They used to be good, now I guess it's all about the moeny.0 -
I use EnterpriseHost UK based, friendly and helpful support when I've needed it and very CMS/Joomla/WP friendly with an automatic install and update product that lets you choose which directory to install to (or defaults to root) and can handle multiple domains with their own installations all controlled through cpanel which is very easy to use.0

Can't vouch for quality of the solution but these people seem to be quite well set up for Joomla:

www.zyma.com £5 a year / £15 for 3 at the moment. one main domain hosted then you can have a further 10 as addon domains.
Unlimited everything if you believe that
Been using them for about 6 months, havent had a single problem,
their ssl and dedicated ip isnt bad either for £12.99, if your using the sites for selling, most other hosts charge a fair bit more.0 -
