Does anyone ever win with a gmail address?

Just wondered if anyone wins 'big' prizes using a gmail address or do you have more luck using a different email account?
Also do you think they just randomly choose a winner or do you think they choose a letter of the alphabet and choose an email address starting with that letter?
Don't know why I am asking now, just been wondering how winners are picked really and if there is a standard method or if different companies do it different ways.:)

I use a gmail adress and mine is straight to the point. It includes the words "me", "to", "win" in it
My first win was a netbook, and I've had a good run of wins from the beginning of Feb when I started comping. Don't think email addresses have anything to do with it really. Think it is just pure luckThanks to all posters :A0 -
I have a gmail account and have had a couple of big wins....I think its a safe email....
I think all companies have different ways of picking winners...
A couple of my friends who work in a company that runs comps (which I dont enter due to terms)...one says they look at the email and choose ones with funky emails, whereas the other says they pick out a full named ones...so I really do think its the luck of the draw.x

Thanks for the replies. I have always wondered how it was done so it is interesting to see there is a mix from different companies. Wasn't even sure if there was just a computerised program that picked them out!!!!0

I personally find that hard to believe. Surely it should be a random choice and not because of somebody having a funky email address.0 -
Should be random choice, although I have to say that sometimes I have wondered if I should change my user name on the baby websites. There seem to be loads a winners called ryansmummy or similar.2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494

I have a gmail address and have no idea whether it is comparatively lucky or not. However I now check spam mail regularly as I've found winning messages there twice this year. Fortunately the prizes weren't big - tickets - but I lost out on both as the event dates had gone by the time I checked.0

(I think) that I won a Halloweeen comp because my phone no. has got 666 in it - either that or because the bloke that had to deliver the prize didn't live too far away!!!0

I've used a gmail address since I started comping about 3 years ago and I've won several big prizes with it, when things are slow I do think about changing it but then as is the way with comping it picks up again so I just leave it, mine just includes my full name @ googlemail.com:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

I once won rugby tickets and had to call them to arrange the delivery in time for the match, it was a major final at Twickenham, and they said the email address I had used ( hubbys) really stood out and made them laugh , that's why it was chosen...always use btinternet ones, have never used gmail or hotmail and have won quite a lot on internet entry comps.0

Interesting thread
I've always wondered if the fact that I usually tick the box stating that I do not want to receive marketing stuff from the site goes against me or not....do most people on here accept marketing spam stuff?
Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.0
