I was driving through London today and by a new development there was a very large settee being dragged up the outside wall to a 3rd floor living room - it didn't look much fun!

The flat that I used to rent had the strangest staircases.

The first was really steep and had a low ceiling, so nothing long could go up there.

The second was narrow, steep and winding, so absolutely nothing could go up there!

I ended up with a flat pack settee (that has been taken apart and rebuilt three times now, and still going strong!), and I had to have a futon for a bed!!!! The bedroom furniture was again flatpack, but I left it there when I moved! x
    Gone ... or have I?
  • We have lived in a three storey Redrow home for 4 years. When we first moved in our 3 seater sofa and two arm chairs did fit upstairs (just!!) Unfortunately after 6mths we had a flood (plumbing problem) and all the furniture was ruined. We were very careful choosing a new settee but despite taking careful measurements it wouldn't fit upstairs. The two guys who delivered it refused to assist in taking it upstairs. In the end we had to take out the stair rail to get the settee up the stairs.

I think the housebuilders featured on Watchdog were Barratts & Redrow
