Hello all
Im soon to be single mum, i currently recive incap and ctc along with chb, ive spoken to all the depts at council etc, and she said i would be better off staying on this instead if switching to income support, as i wouldnt get anymore on income support, when i move out of here (marital home), they said i can claim HB and CTB, even though my name is on this mortgage cos its up for sale.
Could i also go back to work ? how many hrs can you work without it effecting your housing and council tax benefits ?, they said if i go back to work i would then move over onto income support, but i forgot to ask about the hours of work ?
Ive been slowly easing myself back towards work since starting to recover from illness, but im scared about going back Ft and having to find enough money for full rent and ct.
THankyou in advance

How many hours work can you do without it affecting income based benefits like housing benefit? 0 - Any money you receive will be taken into account and could affect the amount of benefit money you will be entitled to.
You need to be working less than 16 hours a week for Income Support.0 -

and yet again the judgemental crew jump in and start attacking.
Bella, I would advise you to ask to see a lone parent advisor at your local Jobcenter, they will be able to do whats called a better off calculation so you would have a better idea of what benefits you could claim depending on what hours you are working.
You might find that you will be ok just working p/t for a while, to ease you back into work and then when you are fully fit go back full time.
Good luck, it's difficult when you become a lone parent and I hope your health continues to improve.0 -
as a lone parent she would be allowed to keep the first £20 of anything she earns and then the rest is taken off IS £ for £.How many hours work can you do without it affecting income based benefits like housing benefit? 0 - Any money you receive will be taken into account and could affect the amount of benefit money you will be entitled to.

.
When someone says in one sentence that they're claiming IB and in the next that they're thinking of working, it doesn't seem to me to be judgemental to question this. It doesn't take a lot for the poster to explain that they've been ill and have now recovered.0 -
I wasn't referring to your post Older, Although I did think it was pretty self explanatory that the OP had been ill and was in the process of recovery.Oldernotwiser wrote: »When someone says in one sentence that they're claiming IB and in the next that they're thinking of working, it doesn't seem to me to be judgemental to question this. I was referring to the people who jump in and make comments on the OPs relationship status and the fact she has children but has been ill.
They are totally uncalled for and nothing at all to do with the questions she's asked.0
