OPC Private Parking Fine at Telford Bridge Retail Park

I recieved a PPC after overstaying the permitted time in the carpark at Telford Bridge Retail Park by less than 20 minutes.
Unfortunately I sent a letter to OPC to appeal the PPC. In the letter I pleaded for leniency and thereby admitted to an offence.

My pleading fell on deaf ears. OPC informed me of the time that I arrived and the time that I left and that I had two weeks to pay 'only' £50 before the charge is increased to £100.

I regret writing the letter now as after looking at this forum I now know I should have just ignored the PPC.

Could someone let me know if it is now to late for me to ignore the PPC and have I given OPC the details to win against me if they were to take me to the County Court?
A possible angle for me to take is that there are not enough signs warning of the maximum permitted parking time limit, especially where my car was parked. There is a sign at the entrance but it cannot be read while driving a car.

Regards,
Telford P

    Ignore it.

And stop talking about an 'offence' - you have not committed one.

Contacting the company was a waste of your time, but it makes very little difference.

You will get a chain of demands, some quite threatening, but you can safely ignore everything the company sends you.

Don't throw anything away from OPC, its best to file all their threatograms and keep any tickets you have. From now on ignore them, they usually go away although they will send you an extra few letters as you have "appealed".
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • OPC are the ones who commit offences, not you - http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2011/03/03/parking-fines-firm-admits-misleading-motorists/

    Ignore these criminals.

Ignore OPC however since you have made an appeal for the speculative invoice to be cancelled, and as usual denied by OPC. I would write to the retailers you visited that day. Telling them that you spent at their shop but as OPC have done this you will go elsewhere in the future.
We have seen some retailers call them off. It may work and save the hassle of ignoring OPC's crap.
  • Hi Telford Paul or anyone.
I hope you still look at your original post. Im wondering whether you got anything else from OPC. I've just received a second letter and I'm tempted to ignore it again. I had parked at the same car park in Telford and overstayed by 21mins! This whole experience is very unnerving.

What's "unnerving" about receiving junk mail from the likes of OPC? Just ignore these clowns and stop worrying.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • It is "unnerving" because they thrive on peoples good nature. Anyway I am ignoring it as I know I commited no crime. Would be nice to know though that I wont be taken to court over this stupid thing.

If you have Googled and found this forum thread, you are reading an old, out of date thread.

stop reading now and click to the current forum instead!!!!!!!

do not ignore a fake pcn, the advice changed in early 2013 and you can now win at POPLA or other independent appeal. Read the sticky threads because you need to learn what will win at appeal. Mitigating circumstances (normal appeals) will lose.

SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? SEE MY SIGNATURE FOR WHERE TO CLICK ONE CLICK TO GET TO PAGE ONE. READ THE STICKY THREADS AT THE TOP (ADVICE & INFO FOR YOU TO WIN AT APPEAL).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The original post was in six months ago the OP never came back, I think it would be safe to surmise OPC sent the usual crap then went to play somewhere else.
In OPC's case we can actually say ignore the "criminals"!
  • Thanks guys. I wasnt sure anyone would respond on this old thread but you did :D. I was just simply looking for reassurance.
Like mentioned above I will try not to stress about their threatening letters.
