I don't think they are, others believe they are.... for some they will at least act as a deterent even if they arent really worth while. The one thing is that it is never going to harm you to have one in place even if it doesnt help you.ok thanks. I thought i read on here that NDA's were not tworth it though.0 -
Red .. I hope the advice I sent you does help.
Its always nice to hear/see people starting up a business/ideas from scratch!0 -
red a website is not that expensive to start.
i can buy a domain name with space for £12 a year and using microsoft publisher design a website exactly the same as someone designs a poster and simply put some hyperlinks in to a paypal shopping cart/checkout.
costs for websites are minimal. the main concern is the infrustructure behind it... basically you! depending on the business idea, how much work can you cope with.
EG if it is selling products. how fast can you order products, get them to youraself and then your customer. how much time it takes to print out the order, package it and then take it to the royal mail sorting office.
work out:
maximum volume per day.
costs of purchasing stock.
delivery and processing times.
tracking method to ensure nasty customer deny receiving product and request refunds.
if you feel that funding making a website is expensive then you have not sat down and worked out the costs of the business behind the website.
work out costs of going to royal mail. time you would need to spend doing the job. and also the profit from how much you buy the product against how much you sell it for.
do some trial sales on ebay (where there is already a high potential customer base without having to advertise on google ads) and see how well it goes receiving a order, and processing it to completion.
selling grannys old teapot is different to selling a product from a supplier on mass.
work out how many products you need to sell to earn lets say £50 a day after tax (average earning) and look into ways about getting this customer flow..
this should be your first point of call before trying to set up a website with professional designers.
basically as my mum always says dont iron a shirt until you have atleast scrubbed it and it looks clean.
so dont make a nice looking crease free website until you know the behind the scenes work has been done and everything looks bright0 -
but mitch, whilst I agree with you re: ebay, theres much more to creating a website that using Publisher.
unless people know you are there (ie: your URL) they aren't gonna find you in google unless your site has undergone at least some sort of SEO and keywords
Now, the average Jo (or Joanne!), wont know where to start with this, so imo its pointless having a website unless you carry it through.0
