Recommended Electric Panel Heaters

Hi, I have read lots of threads on this forum and learnt that expensive so called economy electric heating is a load of old tosh because a £10 heater will produce the same amount of heat as a £500 heater. So I am very grateful for that knowledge, thank you.
I want to put a modern electric heating system into my 2 bed flat which was a new build in 2000, so its got pretty good insulation etc. I want to have thermostats on each panel and timers and I want them to look average to great looks wise. Can anyone recommend a particular brand or manufacturer that has this kind of top of the range panel heater at sensible prices that reflect value for money and not a rip off claim.

Welcome to the forum! It is satisfying that people are getting the idea about all heaters producing exactly the same amount of heat for the same running cost.

Regarding the looks of panels, well 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. If you look at the Dimplex range you will get an idea of what is available; there are also cheaper manufacturers. There is very little to go wrong with this type of electrical heater.

Virtually all heaters have thermostats and some have timers.

If you have your heaters plugged in to 13 amp sockets, you can buy plug-in adapters that have a timer and remote control and are cheap. - make sure you get adapters that can handle the power normally rated at 13 amp.
  • Thank you for the welcome! Yes I was initially seduced by false claims about these electric heaters but when I googled it and researched a bit further, I came across this forum and thank goodness for sincere advice! So for me, its saved me a huge amount of money and for that I am very very grateful:) because I would have been a victim otherwise.

I will take a look at the dimplex range - is there any difference between radiant, fan, halogen or convector or whatever. I want it as a main heating source for the flat. At the moment there is storage heating but that does not really suit my lifestyle. If I have an electric shower and cold fill washing machine, I would only need hot water for kitchen sink and bathroom sink, so the economy 7 would make sense for this, I guess. But I could better use the cupboard space that the huge tank takes up just for the sake of a few litres of water.

so the economy 7 would make sense for this, .

Don't you mean Economy 7 would NOT make sense?

You pay a considerable premium for daytime(17 hours) electricity when you have Economy 7.

I think most people would prefer panel/oil filled radiators for heating a house. You can always buy a £10 3kW fan heater to quickly bring the room up to temperature.

All electric heating will not be cheap to run, but it is flexible and reliable and can be very cheap to buy if you choose wisely.
