    gorgeous morning here:j

got a lovely day ahead today.
coffee in town with my sister then DH and I are popping to Leominster for a walk around their market.
This evening I'm off out with a friend to visit another good friend who moved away to Wednesbury(sp?) in the black country a few years ago. She's divorced and struggling a bit but we were good friends for a long time when our boys were growing up and I dont get to see her very often. The 3 of us used to perform together in our tap shows.:)

    Pay day today:j

got to tighten the belt this month as its an expensive month. Car tax due plus DS2s birthday(and mine:)) and I'm off to Devon to visit Mum later in the month.

    Happy Anniversary Hovel Lady:beer:

    Morning all

JackieO - Grrr at the uni course thing
    Meanmarie - happy birthday!

Well after yesterdays hobnobbing with Royals today is going to be a boring day in the office :rotfl: . I have to do some work for one qualification I'm doing, meet with my NVQ assessor for another qualification, and then this afternoon I'm meeting with some people from the Welsh Assembly about piloting a Politics information session with my work kids. I also need to make sure that everything is ready for my new group of work kids that start on Tuesday.

Also my little cousin is participating in a swimming gala today in the pool behind my work so if I can nip out for 20mins I will try go watch him.

Tonight I am going out for meal for my flakey friend's birthday. We are going for drinks and then to posh-ish restaurant. I am taking car to keep costs down, and I didn't want to be hungover Sat as I'm off to London for long weekend with the girls :D

OS wise - WM will probably go on when I get home with some bits I need for weekend away. Not got time for much else.

    Have a good day all

    Morning All!

Just a quickie from me again. Had the interview for the reception job yesterday, it went well, I think although I was a bundle of nerves and didn't do a very good job of hiding it :o so we'll see.

Happy Birthday to Marie, although I thinks she's still in Sardinia, so we'll need to point her back to this when she returns.

Its Ds1's last day of primary school today, the holidays start at 1pm. Took him to the gate this morning for the first time this year, and the last time ever, which made him laugh, and me cry. I can't quite believe he is almost 12 and off to high school.

Lots of cleaning to zip round this morning, so best get moving.

JackieO your post yesterday about what you are doing for your family, and then about the chat with Mikey about his grandad brought tears to my eyes. You are a very special lady. :)

Have a lovely day everyone, I am off to get something done before I go back to the school for another wee weep. x

    Good Morning chums ,

sun is shining and the sky is blueish and I can see clearly across the River Medway from my window which is usually a good sign. I received a letter with my results from Uni in yesterday and I was pleased to see I had passed my third year, what wasn't so good is that my course has been cancelled for the coming year so I am up the creek without a paddle as without my fourth year I can't complete my final module .Apparently 'government funding' has been pulled so all of the folk who ,like me have scoured their brains for the past three years just have to say 'Oh well, bit of a nuisance' and walk away !!!:mad::mad: I shall see my tutor this afternoon when I go to my History Club and see what she suggests, but I am not a happy bunny this morning.I know I am doing the course for my own pleasure and interest, but there are people who are trying to do this to improve their job prospects, albeit part-time as they work full-time, and its those I feel the most anger for.I know it won't change my life at all, but it was a lifeline to me when I was going through all the cancer treatment, as concentrating on my course stopped me thinking too much about everything else.Plus it just seems that three years of education has just tripped down the tubes :mad::mad:
Still I suppose having my grandsons to take care of for the next few years will keep me busy and active.
Further education seems to be bottom of the list of things that the Government aspire to now .I went to my local FE place yesterday and asked about next September's courses and they are not yet sure what will be running .normally the new book is out by the second week in June they told me yesterday that it may be possibly out in July sometime but as their not sure how much money will be available for classes its not been printed yet :mad::mad: What is the matter with central government do they not want folk to make the effort to get an education anymore.I left school at the age of 14 with a badge for growing a daffodil from the London Flower Lovers League, I worked hard all my life and when I retired I decided that I wanted to return to 'school' to catch up on all the education that I hadn't had the opportunity for back in the late 1940s.I took English, History, Law and Maths at GCSE and flew through them over the years .My History tutor convinced me to go for a Combined Certificate of Studies at the Univesity of Kent which I have been doing for the past three years ,with the last one due this Sepember.Being the 'granny' of the class I was accepted by the other students with absolutely no problems at all and we all got on well and I have had a terrific time with them all.I have learned so much over the past years and now it looks like I will have to sit down with a blanket over my knees and watch Countdown or some equally soul-destroying rubbish on t.v. just because I'm an old woman:mad::mad::mad: Grr I am definitely turning into a grouchy old lady this morning .Which is a shame as I'm normally quite upbeat and full of seetness and light about things. Watch this space as I think I am going to get quite vociferous with my protests at Uni at some point.Bring out the water cannon I am on the warpath ;)
Apart from all my ranting I do hope you all have a pleasant day and things don't get you as riled up as I am at the moment :D
    Have a good day everyone
    JackieOxx
P.S.Happy Birthday Meanmarie Hope you have a great day

Firstly congratulations on your achievements. You have done really well there.

Secondly I want to join you grrrring at the government regarding their education policy. I work as an educator and am having to watch my 10-year-old business being sucked out from under me due to this government. My courses/classes are full yet funding has been pulled right, left and centre for next year. My exam results are good and all students auditioning have had unconditional offers from degree programmes. What more can I do?! I am having to also sit there and watch some gifted pupils turn these places down as they can no longer afford to go. This whole system sucks!

As an OU student myself, I have actually had to take a sabbatical as I can now sadly no longer afford the units. The courses were just something I was doing for me and loving every moment!

So am joining you on the rant!!!! I am actually in the middle of writing to David Cameron and copying my local MP in regarding both issues. Politics normally go over my head but not at the moment. It will be very interesting to see what response I get, if any.

    A very mad Fizzbit

    Happy Birthday Meanmarie
    Happy Anniversary Mrs Hovel

Washings out,BM on.I dont have to cook tonight as our friends rang up last night to see if we wanted to go for Indian :j
DS1 back from Majorca late tonight but dont expect to see him till Sunday really,he'll be at DGfs.

I may do a little bit of gardening this aft but have some sewing bits to finish-I made a maxi dress the other week-trying to pluck up courage to wear it though :o,and this week a short dress that came free with Sew magazine, and boy( have I struggled with it)what a learning curve :rotfl:.Nearly done though, just needs hemming and tidying up.
Got the fabric off my man on the market for £3.He quite often knocks a bit off when I buy a few pieces.I went to John Lewis at the Trafford centre yesterday and got a clearance piece of Cath Kidston fabric, blue with little strawbs on,and some more Amy Butler stuff-not cheap but very nice.I want to try my hand at a make up bag .

Right better get up off my backside and do something.Have good days all.x

Birthday greeting meanmarie, have a lovely day:)
JackieO well done on your achievments :) flaming cuts:mad:
Hope everyone is ok and having a good day.Bit cloudy here today , the sky was lovely and blue earlier, have put washing out on the hoping it will dry.
Have been trying to convince a friend that she cannot lie to the insurance company about her dogs exsisting condition.Shes not listening to me:mad: feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall.
Ds1 has an alevel English Lang exam today, was helping him with some last min revision last night, gosh it was taxing my brain IYKWIM:o
Woofer been out and walked so is now snoozing on the floor next to his basket( I want a shrugging smilie ) mad dog.
OS wise, have to clean the bath , dd decided to dye her hair last night and has left red hair dye all over the bath, bit of elbow grease in order i think.
Dinner tonight is bbq ribs that are marinating in the fridge, fried (oops I meant baked) chicken , hm wedges and coleslaw.
I have been sitting down working out my finances for the rest of this year, taking into account how much will be removed from my tax credits and child benefit once ds2 goes off to uni:eek: works out i will loose roughly £260 a month from September:eek::eek:Not to sure how we will manage but we will somehow. Just came as a bit of a shock to see it down on paper. So will be needing to tighten our belts in a bit to get use to the adjustments .
So am going to sit down with the lappy and a coffee then off to the bathroom.
    Hugs for all
