I posted this on the credit card board, but think it is better placed here...

This is very handy if you are about to make a big purchase from Ikea. If you apply for their storecard, you will get £5 of Ikea vouchers for every £50 you spend on your first purchase on the card. You collect the vouchers instore from the checkout supervisor as soon as you have done the purchase. Vouchers must be used within 3 months, is the only restriction I can see.
I applied instore yesterday & got approved with a £750 limit, you get a temporary card you can use straight away.
I need to sort out my kitchen & a nursery to the tune of £1300, so I'm going to ring up for an increase on the limit tonight. Should I get this I'll put through £1200ish of stuff, collect the vouchers & put through the rest.

It goes without saying that you should pay off/BT the balance straight away to avoid interest.

Remember this only applies the first time you use the card, so use it, get your vouchers & use them & then cut up the card. Having said that, if you use the card at anytime in the restaurant, it's BOGOF on the meals (see above re: paying off the balance).

I think this is only available if you apply instore.

    Hey Sand Man-

I've never heard of Ikea doing discount codes or anything similar - I think they pride themselves on just offering the lowest prices to all.

Plus you can't order online as you have to visit the store to purchase. You can browse though - https://www.ikea.co.uk

I moved into my first place just before Christmas and furnished quite a lot of it from Ikea - really good value for money. The wood veneer stuff is really rather good. (Check out the malm range for simple clean lines furniture, no handles or anything!)

Look on their website for your nearest store and look at the Ikea card offers for it. They seem to be diferent for each store but at some you get Ikea vouchers back to a precentage of the value you spend e.g. £2.50 in vouchers for every £100 spent.

They have a few items on special offer until 9th April ; this is also on the website.

Look in the current catalogue as it has details of special offers for the rest of the year.

I would also go and look in the bargain area of the store where they have all the ex display items reduced.

    Thanks Alot

It a sham that Ikea don't do any discount vouchers etc but i agree that IKEA are good value for money.

Thanks for the tip regarding getting the £2.50 vouchers when you spent £100
  • We have the Ikea card - we got a £30 off voucher for opening the account, and they regularly send money off vouchers (usually with a really limited range of dates to cash it in).

The other good thing about the card is that you show it in the restaurant and get a free hot drink (and unlimited refills) everytime you go!

We never actually spend anything on the card as we prefer to use our 2% cashback cards - just use it for the money off vouchers and free drink!
