HBO content was previously available on Virgin Media via an on-demand service but Virgin Media has never carried a HBO channel.
However, I was under the impression that HBO content was removed from Virgin Media services last October, following Sky and HBO striking an exclusivity deal for UK broadcasting rights for future HBO shows and many of the shows in the HBO back catalogue that did not already have a UK carriage deal. Sky launched Sky Atlantic on their own platform this year to carry HBO content amongst other things. Virgin Media currently does not carry Sky Atlantic.
With regards to True Blood, the UK broadcast rights are held by FX which I believe should be available on Virgin Media.0 -
Aye, FX is 157 on VM, i'm not sure if it's on the Large or XL package though.0

FX is on XL but the new season of True Blond is only starting in the US this month and won't come to FX until later in the year.0

Do you have a link to this press release?
I only ask because the most recent reference I can find to HBO on Virgin Media's press site is dated April 2008 and is about receiving HBO content in HD. (http://pressoffice.virginmedia.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=205406&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1126891&highlight=)
I did find a reference from February 2007 about Virgin Media carrying HBO content. (http://pressoffice.virginmedia.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=205406&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=962265&highlight=)
I located this on another forum - http://www.cableforum.co.uk/article/313/virgin-media-in-hbo-on-demand-deal - which is dated Feb 13th without a year, but I would believe this refers to the same deal as the one struck in 2007 due to the content of the article, the names mentioned in the article and the fact that the 2007 HBO deal was also announced on Feb 13th.0
