"Must dos" in Devon and Cornwall

I'm visiting my aunt next month in Plymouth . Trying to get some ideas of things to do whilst I am in clotted cream world (aka devon/cornwall :D) - I was planning to go to Falmouth as well although having investigated places to stay / I don't think its going to be viable so day trips it is - can anyone recommend any must dos ? I've done things like the eden project and paignton zoo previously and I'm not really a beach person ? After suggestions for both devon and cornwall -

happy to perhaps have a night stay in cornwall if it means we can get a couple of things in - (will chuck the tent in the car!)

Is it you and a partner? Kids or not? What sort of things do you like doing? If you like walking there's gorgeous coastal walks round Tintagel area (was there at the weekend and loved it!) or the North Devon coast, or go inland and trek round Exmoor or Dartmoor. Lydford Gorge on the west side of Dartmoor is lovely - NT property if you're a member. There's a couple of waterfalls in nice woodland on the other side of Dartmoor - Becky falls or Canonteign falls. If you want an indoor attraction there's the House of Marbles is a bit quirky - that's in Bovey Tracey on east side of Dartmoor. Or South Molton has the Quince Honey Farm which is fascinating - massive indoor hives in total safety.
You've got some lovely little villages around Exmoor and North Devon. One of my faves is Lynton/Lynmouth, with a cliff railway connecting the two. Personally I think Clovelly is lovely though there's a whole thread on here arguing about the fact you pay to go in - it's only a fiver and it's privately owned. Tbh there isn't loads to do there - couple of small pubs but it's really quaint, and again there's lovely walks round there

It won't be tranquil though if they consume any of the tonic wine. Scotland's ned or chav culture is fuelled by this stuff. I think around 95% of the wine they make is shipped to Scotland.

    Hello, I live in Devon!
I've been to Falmouth once, and it's a nice town from what I can remember. Penzance is also lovely, alongside Truro if you fancy a bit of shopping.
In Devon, there is the national marine aquarium in Plymouth which is good. Plymouth and Exeter are also good for shopping. If you fancy the whole seaside ice cream thing, then Torquay or Paignton is your best bet.
Dartmoor National Park is also close by, which is lovely on a nice day. It's around a 20 minute drive from the centre of Plymouth, however there are also buses which go to the area.

Edit - Must add that I love how you call it clotted cream world!! Most people call it farmer land!

very tranquil place. inbwteen exeter and plymouth. - Yes I agree it`s a lovely place. Although last time we were there my DH forgot to switch his mobile off while we were inside the Abbey. It was nearly the end of the lunchtime service and his phone rang. His ring tone is Guns & Roses Sweet Child of Mine. I`ve never saw anyone move so fast.

if you make a day trip to exeter make sure you have a picnic or coffee on the catherdral green - Exeter is a lovely city. Have never been inside the cathedral so that`s another must do when we`re in Devon.

    hope this helps x

    We also loved:

Dartmoor, including the Prison Museum. Which I found facinating if not a little disturbing.

Plymouth - The Barbican, National Aquarium and a boat trip up the River Tamar.

    Have a great time.
