OP maybe you should consider periodically stocking another product in your shop just to get your DSR ratings up.
Something cheap and popular that will fit in a post box and costs the price of a couple of stamps to send (no COP but then no trips to the post office).
Undercut everyone else on ebay, expect to loose a little money but once your DSR's are back up stop selling until they fall again.
I've seen low volume high value sellers talking about doing this on other boards. The only problem I can see is that if your too cheap with this loss making product you might find individual buyers buying up all your stock in bulk and then you'd only receive one set of DSR ratings for the transaction.
Does anyone know if you can restrict the number of items an individual ebayer can purchase from a single listing??0 -

Yes, thanks for that, have considered it and probably will do. Just been digging a bit further and we had 4 customers in April give a mark of 1 or 2 on despatch times. Since then weve not had a single unsatisfied customer. Wonder why its only just dropped us down. As I said in previous posts though, we advertise a despatch time of 13-15 days and have never took longer than that, so customers know before they order what to expect. This is the bit that has hacked me off. We have large heavy items to manufacture, then they have to be coated to a customers preference, dry etc. Even if we are quiet the despatch time would be around 10 days. As the ebay guy said, its about educating customers, a lot of them dont realise how these marks can impact a seller and they think they are being helpful. Had one guy say he loved the product so much and it was better quality than he could have ever imagined, but he would have liked to have got it sooner. (his was despatched after 11 days, so before our advertised time) and yet he has admitted to giving a one on depatch as he doesnt like waiting. Hes also said he will email ebay and say hes made a mistake, see what happens here. Id love to know how the people who have mocked the fact we have a 4.4 out of 5 rating on despatch would resolve this issue, due to the fact we manufacture hand made items and dont just knock out stuff weve bought off a car boot.0 -
Those low stars are more of an issue than the overall feedback. It was what I was worried about in my earlier post. It really only takes a few in a single category and unless you are a mega seller you could face suspension.
I have no helpful suggestions though about staying afloat on ebay, but it does seem to be that certain items are just not suited for the way ebay work.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Think I have to realise it is what it is. You can play the game, as thats what it is or not. As I said ebay is a small part of my business so I will play along. I'll sell a load of tat for a quid to a few hundred friends. (I run a large football forum), to adjust things. Ive been in business all of my life and dont know of any company that can achieve a 5 out of 5 score from 98% of its customers in 4 different catergories over a period of a year, its simly not feasable. All customers have different expectations. Will concentrate on google more as well. Think ebay are totally wide of the mark with this DSR policy though and I understand the need to protect buyers, its the implementation that is wrong. Anyway guys, thanks for the input.0

What Ebay are doing is a disgrace.
They allow you to state a dispatch time up to 30 days - but threaten to limit your account if you don't post next day and are marked down on DSR's. Scandalous. If its says 15 days and it gets there within that time - it gets 5 stars. If its late - its marked down. Simple. But no - ebayers are happy to buy , despite the stated dispatch time - and then abuse their power after.
Like you - i was unaware of the dashboard, until too late. I've been below standard for 3 months now - and have been threatened with selling limits. My items are bottom of best match.
I always posted next day and charged postage at cost - but ebay want blood. Until my rating recovers, i cannot charge postage - just incase some moron gives me a 2.
Shame Ebay don't spend as long looking at their own failings.
This is supposed to be Ebays policy:-
We proactively look for Feedback abuse and take action against it
For example, eBay investigates buyers who leave positive Feedback but low Detailed Seller Ratings.
So if thats true - how can someone who as NEVER had a negative be threatened with a restricted account for having low DSR's . It makes no sense - and is more Ebay nonsense.0 -

Probably a bit off topic but I wonder if the expanded seller dashboard stars figures are always accurate. Mine have stuck on a percentage for ages and due to holidays etc I went 'post free' for a few weeks so in that category i had to get 5*. Yet the figures didn't change by as much as 0.01, which is nonsense. I have since gone back to my usual listings where p and p is an extra and again the overall stars in the expanded dashboard have not budged.
I did email ebay to ask if the system was updating, and just got back some nonsense about keeping buyers happy, which did not acknowledge my email at all. I'm not overly worried by my stars as they are good, but it makes a nonsense of the whole thing if they never ever change regardless of what I do.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. looking at previous comments, we dont have any negs, but one neutral. His comment 'still not got it' and neutral mark, was put up 9 days after his cleared payment. We advertise dispatch in 13-15 days. Do you think we have a case in getting this removed as its clearly unfair and the customer was totally aware of our dispatch times. Would it be best to contact ebay over this or the customer? We actually dispatched his item in 12 days and it arrived with him two days later, so we were in fact quicker than advertised and yet we get a neutral and reading between the lines a low star rating.0

It wouldn't hurt to try. Play a few 'emotive' cards when talking to ebay (phone don't email), mention this is affecting your business, if there is anything at all that looks 'malicious' talk about that as well as malicious is a word that ebay use quite a bit as being a bad thing. Really stress the damage to your 'ebay' business, tell them you don't want to lose th eopportunity of selling there but feel you are being targetted somehow.
If the first person is not sympathetic, leave it half an hour and phone back and try again.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. been wondering this myself soolin, our 4.4 rating for dispatch was there in april and hasnt changed since, despite the fact we have many more customers and not a single complaint of low mark on the dashboard since this time. In fact we have a lot of comments about quick despatch as weve been getting items out in 10 days recently.
Just moving on, I can understand people giving us low marks for despatch, if compared to items bought in bulk from china and stored in a warehouse, as opposed to things being hand made to order in this country. Think its wrong because we stay within our quoted time, but can understand it. What hacks me off more is getting a 4.7 for P&P, we have purpose made boxes which fit the items perfectly, so it cant be this and the charges of £25 for two boxes nationwide with a weight of just under 80kilos is extremely cheap and in fact we lose £10 per item and yet we still lose marks, makes me wonder if some people simply dont have a clue. Had to change to free P&P now.0
