I'd go for this one
PC world refurb, bought several from there before and all arrived as new, minus packaging.

AMD phenom x3
Radeon 4250
15.6" screeen
3gb ram
250gb hd
win 7 premium
£219
Will be better than the celeron laptop posted in most things, esp video playback and gaming.
Definitely better specs, though be aware it's a three month warranty.0 -

I know this is last months thread, but still active for me!
Even £200 is a bit out of my price range but have been looking at the outlet sellers on Ebay and found this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Advent-Modena-M200-Red-15-6-Home-Computing-laptop-/130537764495?pt=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH&hash=item1e64a8368f
I need it for my DD's - so mainly homework, word processing/presentation stuff, CD-Rom games like Jump Ahead or Learning Ladder etc, online games that extend to CBBC or Education City; nothing major. They do use iplayer too so I need something that can cope with that. Do you think its OK??
Is the 3 month warranty an issue though? Would the Sale of Goods act cover anything beyond that? (Not that I have ever had a break-down with 3yrs of a PC/laptop)
My budget is incredibly tight - so I can only rely on you guys as to whats best for my money.0 -

I'm not sure anyone here is going to 'recommend' an Advent.
It's definitely cheap and with careful handling, the keys might not fall off.
Why don't you pop down to Dixons/Currys/PC World and get your hands on one to see how you feel about it?
I wouldn't want to put you off without you even trying it.
Looking at the specifications, apart from build quality(which might be ok, who knows?), my main reservations would be that it only has one RAM slot and that the battery is a lightweight performer at 2200mAh. So don't expect to be able to use it far away from mains power.
You should ask yourself...."Do I feel lucky?"
We'll be here to support you, either way.0
