my son wants a laptop for his birthday and I have a very low budget to work with (£200) max, I haven't a clue about laptops so would anybody be able to guide me in the right direction as to the best value laptop i can get for this amount and where from?
my son will mainly use it for homework, playing online games & you tube.
thanks in advance

a brand new (fully-fledged) laptop for that price might be pushing it i think...a refurbished one maybe ...a netbook however would be purchasable within that price bracket.A new abacus:A.

certainly many of the netbooks do struggle with online games and sometimes even youtube videos -- it's the reliance on Flash which is often the problem. So yes, no to the netbook and onwards to a laptop. I just think u might struggle at the £200 mark.A new abacus:A.

Online gaming can be heavy on resources.
Can you stretch to £260?
There's a few with a bit of poke from ebuyer, who are reckoned to be as cheap as anyone.

I'd go for this one
PC world refurb, bought several from there before and all arrived as new, minus packaging.

AMD phenom x3
Radeon 4250
15.6" screeen
3gb ram
250gb hd
win 7 premium
£219
Will be better than the celeron laptop posted in most things, esp video playback and gaming.0
