If it wasn't for the mistakes I made in the past (and learned from), I wouldn't be who and where I am today. It doesn't matter if you've cocked up, what matters is that you put it right and apologise. x

The charges only apply if you go over your monthly allowances. Tell me something that hasn't gone up?

you may not go over this month, but what happens in three months time when you do go over, you then have to pay the additional charge that you did not agree to when you signed up.

So don't go over your allowance or get a different package!

Who can foresee what's going to happen in the next months:rotfl:

Now you know that you will be charged if you go over your limit, you just have to be careful with your calls

As long as you 30 days notice prices can go up as long as it's not over the RPI.

As has beeen stated things go up as long as it's not over RPI theres not a lot you can do.

I really don't understand the logic of your query. If you had gone over your allowance last month or any month, you would still have to pay extra charges, so what is the issue here? Ok, so the rates have increased, but you would still be liable to pay in any month you go over the allowance.

This price rise is a continuing trend that most of the major providers are following.

Inclusive bundles are getting more and more generous, and run on rates are getting higher and higher.

As things currently stand, I think this is where Giffgaff is pretty much on its own with an 8p/min run-on rate after a monthly allowance has run out. The only other example I can think of is Orange PAYG's minute-bundle for £5 which covers 100 minutes and then has a 5p/min run on rate, but this is of little use for bigger users.

Out-of-bundle run-on minutes on contracts are big -
Orange and Tesco are now 25p/min
    Talkmobile is 30p/min
    T-Mobile are 30.6p/min
    Vodafone is now 35p/min
    O2 is also 35p/min.
Virgin was already the highest at 36p/min - moving now to 40p.
    (legacy tariffs may vary)

The cost of all non-inclusive calls (08 calls etc) is generally rising too It's also becoming more common to make voicemail fully chargeable and not count as an inclusive calls from bundled minutes.

The mobile networks rely on plenty of people either significantly under-using their bundles or significantly exceeding bundles to allow them to offer their current bundle prices. If everyone with a 500 minute bundle used exactly 500 minutes and not 1 minute more, the cost of a 500 minute bundle package would need to rise significantly.

Picking up this thread very late but I've just realised this price increase applies to me and I'm on the original pay-as-you-go tariff but had chosen to pay automatically by direct debit. I have no monthly allowance so every call is now costing me 40p and every text 15p. The original PAYG charges were quite favourable for low usage (e.g. texts to other Virgin mobiles were only 4p).

Virgin sure know how to get rid of their longstanding customers.
