vodafone and third party sellers

Am out of contract with Vodafone who are offering a very poor deal for upgrade. When I told them that both CFW and Tesco were offering much more attractive deals with the vodafone network vodafone informed me that these third parties were able to do so but warned me that the vodafone service offered by these third parties is a cut down service inferior to the service vodafone offered to customers who deal direct with vodafone.
Does anyone know if this is true or just a vodafone tactic to discourage dealing with third parties

It depends what they mean by a cut-down Vodafone service. The phone will still continue to work, the signal level will be the same, etc. - my wife is on Vodafone via talkmobile, and her phone has the same level of signal strength as my phone which came directly from Vodafone.

What will change is that you will no longer be dealing with Vodafone's customer service (some will say this isn't a bad thing) if you have any queries.

I'd say it's a ploy to detract you from leaving Vodafone.

Some networks apparently reduce the data connection speed for such customers. I think it's an urban myth.

You will deal with the retailer only if the phone is faulty and needs repair/replacement. With all other problems you deal with the network.
