Perhaps after reading all of the 'unwelcome' advice, his mood might be lifted by the multi award winning humour that is displayed on this thread.

Gems like this one can't fail to raise a tittter.
Taxiing down the tarmac, the jetliner abruptly stopped, turned around and returned to the gate. After a hour-long wait, it finally took off. A concerned passenger asked the flight attendant: “What was the problem?”
“The pilot was bothered by a noise he heard in the engine,” explained the flight attendant,” and it took us a while to find a new pilot.”

You may have a point, but I doubt it :rotfl:

I thought we were telling jokes? Thats far too near the truth in some operators to be a classified a joke!

Maybe there should be a joke thread for those who think they are funny.

I agree it should be placed just below the thread for people who think they are moderators but aren't

If you have booked a holiday of 7k value you should have negotiated zero credit card charges ,i have never paid CC charges.I booked a long haul holiday for 4 of us last week with a major operator and they wanted 2.5% cc charges, after negotiations they agreed to deduct the charges or else i was going to a different agent who had agreed a max £60 cc charge on a 10K holiday for 4 people, also they agreed a further 3% discount over and above the 5% internet discount on offer, they really wanted the deal and it took over a week to get the end deal but in money terms we saved around £950
  • Apologies for tagging my question on to the end of this thread, but wondered if someone could advise...
Just about to book a holiday (package holiday with First Choice)online, and begrudge paying the 2.5% credit card charge but concerned about being covered if I pay on debit card.
    Any advice greatly appreciated!

Some debit cards also give you cover. Also the fact that you are booking through First Choice, who are part of Thomson, means that you should be safe. There will also be your insurance cover, and the ABTA cover. So in other words, you are covered.

A package holiday booked with First Choice has ATOL protection, and you are booking direct with the operator so the protection is bulletproof.

Priceless,Is the holiday with First Choice available with Thomas Cook ? if so i think you will find FC will negotiate the CC charges,i got them last year to deduct the cc charges from the holiday .I was of the opinion FC had a max charge £60[ MIGHT BE WRONG],also have a look at the larger independant travel agents because my local CooP travel is negotiable on my recent booking they came down from 2.5% to an all in charge of £60 but to get the booking the major company waved all the charges.

The problem here is because you wanted to pay with 2 credit cards, had you paid with 1 card and you had a card that gave you points you'd have made a profit. The cut of charge for credit cards is normally £50 so if you had a card that paid 1% cashback you'd have made £25. Yes its unfortunate you didn't get your reminders but you should have put it in your diary, and they were good enough to agree to you paying on the original date, the reason they couldn't delay payment any longer is cause it goes into cancellation charges within 10 weeks of departure so had you decided to cancel the holiday the next day then that shop would have to pay the tour operator the difference between the loss of deposit and the cancellation fees, which would have got the manager into serious trouble. Its annoying but its your fault you hadn't already transferred the money.
