Yes earlier replier, we do have confirmation through the local travel agent that the room booked (at an increased premium) had a disabled shower.

If you paid extra for a room with a disabled shower (which is how I read this) then I would have thought that you would at least have a right to a refund of the premium you paid. If it was just a request for a disabled shower, then I don't think you will have much hope...but if you actually paid more for it, then it would seem to me that you actually do have a quantifiable loss.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Thats a good point if you have paid for it . Its then not a request its a service paid for and acknowledged as such in the surcharge. How much extra BTW were you charged for a low level shower as i dont think you should pay Its something they provide to tick boxes this is getting interesting

but the poster said quite clearly in their first post that they had paid for this facility. It would be so much more productive and helpful if people read posts carefully instead of just reacting to other replies which are quite often inaccurate and muddled

I would think if the hotel was chosen and/or recommended SPECIFICALLY for its disabled facilities and these were not provided then it really is a disaster for those concerned. A refund of the disabled premium really isn't good enough.Id want a bit more than that.
Potentially it would be more comfortable to stay at home.
I don't know how seriously disabled the OP partner is but imagine the difficulty someone with severe paraplegia would have in this instance.
