    Do you work for Benchmarx?
I see from your 3 previous posts that you seem to be promoting them.
I don't mind, just let people know if you have a vested interest.

Wow - that's very specific Doozergirl!
I see from your other posts that you have a lot of experience refurbishing kitchens. Does that estimate include a huge trade discount? I don't know what the builders I'm employing would be entitled to.

If I could get this for under £3k I'd be delighted.....

    Mmmm ...£3904.80 apparently.

    Maybe it's pricier in Edinburgh.

What discounts are they giving you against the units?

From checking out some other threads it does seem that £4k for a wee Howdens kitchen - without worktops or any appliances is on the expensive side.
Including our worktops and appliances adds another £3600!

You want between 70-80% discount. Different ranges they reduce by differing amounts depending on their own margins, but the Glendevon cream I'm almost certain can be got for at least 75% off. (remember that the original prices are sooo high that 5% discount can easily knock £50 off a single unit and make a massive difference to the price of the whole kitchen)

Things like plinth, cornice and handles they can reduce by even more.

Look at the design of it too. Everything is in combinations of 400, 500, 600. Not only is the current fashion for wider units, they will work out cheaper than lots of smaller ones.

The other thing that has been pointed out to me recently, which I hadn't really considered, is that soft close adds a lot to the price of the unit, yet the mechanisms can be bought separately for a lot less than the extra cost. I haven't shopped around yet to do that myself, but it's worth bearing in mind and I'll certainly have a go next time. Soft close drawer line units especially add an insane amount of cost to a unit, so are you certain you want those when you already have two separate drawer units? You've only got two, so it doesn't look like you're trying to create much symmetry with them...
