I am sitting here syncing an iphone4 and a 3GS because my daughter doesn't like the iphone4 she got in feb and wants to swap back. My husband got a 4 last week and says he much preferred the feel and handling of the 3.

I have an iPad 1 64gb 3G and an iPad 2 16gb 3G. Really no difference at all. I find the covers of both very annoying for different reasons.

run something like garageband or infinity blade, and I guarantee you will see the difference between the original ipad and v 2. It's only going to get worse as more and more apps start taking advantage of the dual processor

I don't really understand your first point. Are you saying you just buy the first product you come across cos you don't really know how it compares to anything else on the market?

If you read the original post, the OP wasn't aware of the differences between the Ipad and Ipad 2. Now that she is she can make a more informed decision.

Uhh, johnnyboyrebel said the 3GS was better. I would be interested in reading those 'numerous' reviews stating that, Care to share?

I would also be interested to hear from anyone who gave up an Iphone 4 to go back to a 3GS. Not many, I fear.

No, I meant when it comes to buying a product for basic use, Why go for the more expensive one just because its new when you could go for the previous version that is just the same and cheaper.

The 3gs is by far the better phone by many accounts, straight away Someone posted just after me saying his daughter is switching back.

I never suggested people switch back on a larger scale. My point is explained at the beginning of this post.
  • Sorry for hijacking the thread but it's been useful for me and I've decided to buy a iPad2 32GB Wifi (£479) - does anyone know any shops either online or High St where I can get it for this price and either get cashback/vouchers/deal etc?

well you can buy it from Apple directly for that price. I think Currys was doing 5% off recently too.

Also Apple have a decent student discount if you have/know anyone with a Student card - bought my girlfriend a Macbook Pro and discount was pretty much equal to not paying the VAT (17.5% at the time).

Haven't seen it anywhere else with any decent deal or cashback - they have no incentive to do a deal on the iPad2 seeing as they sell themselves anyway at the moment.

    Sorry, that's not very helpful!

I think Apple are on Quidco.

Re the student discount, I don't *think* the IPad is covered by the educational discount, but you could check.

    Actually, re the above I just got a quote from our educational suppliers who will apply the discount and they quoted;

    16gb wifi 3g @ £329
    32gb wifi 3g @ £463.

They seem really good prices so I need to decide which one to go for now.

Considering the savings off the retail price, personally I would definitely get the 32gb 3g one.

I have an iPad 1 32GB 3G and my father has an iPad 2 64GB WiFi Only.

    The difference are:

iPad 2 is quicker (faster processor)
    iPad 2 is lighter
iPad 2 is slimmer (rounder edges)
iPad 2 has cameras (front and back)
iPad 2 is just a little bit better (it's improved)
    iPad 1 is now cheaper.

If buying it as a gift, then you have to buy an iPad 2 (unless hubby has said otherwise) and if he's Likely to be using it while away on business its best to buy a 3G version.

There are ways around having a WiFi only version, like Tethering or a MiFi etc but there are ways to avoid a monthly data tariff.

I'd advice you buy an iPad 2 32GB 3G, a good all round model. But like other before have said it depends on the space he needs and if he's willing (and knows how) about Tethering etc.
