43000 people forced to move because of benefit cap

Ah so you are denying these people exist? This culture of living off benefits as a career choice is substantial and prevalent so of course they get lumped together, they are the same!
No, I am not denying they exist...just that not everyone on benefits is a waster and skiver.
Re the actual subject, I agree that a cap should be in place and that a person on benefits cannot expect to have a better standard or better quality of living space than a person who works. The housing benefit bill is massive (as is the benefit bill as a whole) and something needs to be done....the numbers are eye watering. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
The average household income for the North East is around £19,000. Going on benefits here seems like it would give quite a nice salary increase.0

I would think that paying large amounts of housing benefit to an area like London, would cause the wages at the lower end to be suppressed artificially. Seems stupid.0

Similar situation here.
If you are in holidays you have an option whether to stay in 3-5 stars or stay in a 4-10 beds dorm accomodation. It all depends on your financial circumstances.
The students who do not have enough money to pay 3-5 stars hotel for their accomodation are happy to stay in a 4-10 beds dorm, sleep with other people in the same room.
I think this model could work as such that those who can not pay for their own accomodation shall be temporary accomodated in 4-10 beds paid by the tax payers.
Theys could move to a better accomodation once they will be able to pay for their own accomodation.The_White_Horse wrote: »this is great news.
the shadow lefty said "this can't be right? thousands of kids moved from schools to other areas??"
of course it is right you stupid lefty. these people should not be in these areas in the first place!!!!! scum and chavs lording it up in areas working people can't even dream of living.
the housing benefit cap is still far to high. firstly there should be nothing for 4 bedroom homes. people that don't work don't deserve 4 bedroom homes. the most anyone on benefits should ever get is a 2 bedroom flat. if they do have 4 bedroom homes they should be forced to share with others. hard working students have to share - why not money grubbing work shy filth?????
this country is in a mess because people think they deserve. they deserve nothing!0 -

Blimey, even I think doss houses for the unemployed is a bit harsh. But I cannot see why a Central or West London home is deserved.0 -
Maybe those in receipt of benefits (who are able) should be doing some community service for the privelage.... litter picking, cleaning grafiti there are plenty of jobs that need doing.
As for incapacity benefit.... the only people who can't work at all are probably quadraplegics..... everyone else except in very rare circumstances can do some sort of work, be it data entry or whathaveyou you have to be very very incapacitated to not be able to perform some sort of function... (and breeding doesnt count).
If you ask me the pensionsers - those poor people who have worked and paid tax/NI (not to mention in some cases fought and died for our freedom) their entire lives only to be rewarded with a subsistence income should come first of the queue.... all anyone else needs or deserves is food stamps and a roof of some sort, beyond thats its up to them to determine their own futures.0 -
well the goverment cant pay all this rent for people to live in expensive accommodation. Maybe if the landlords lowered their rents the tentants could stay?
Plus if the goverment is paying these inflated rents to these landlords it just means the taxpayer is funding them to keep rents high that some workers themselves are unable to afford.0 -
Perhaps if LHA/HB was renamed 'Landlord benefit' ? ( ie the person(s) that receive the monthly eye-watering payments from the state ).. we might actually see where the problem with UK housing benefits bills really come from ?It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

I don't imagine that those who died for their country are substantial recipients of housing benefit!0 -
Whats going to be really interesting about this is that the government expects private sector landlords to simply reduce their rents to match the reduced funding available - the free market in action.
Except that away from right-wing dogma world landlords have costs to cover. As with the retail renting sector they'd rather have the place empty and available at the right price than let it at a loss.0
