43000 people forced to move because of benefit cap

I am still amazed by the fact that a family on benefits can claim up to the equivalent of £34,000 per year.0

I think that it is disgusting the amount of cash that it handed out to the workshy and those that can't keep their legs shut for more than 15 minutes.Sealed pot challange no: 3390

While I wouldn't express it as full bloodedly as Horse, I have to concur. This is a barely suppressed opinion amongst many professionals and one I hear often raised. There is a growing socialist supported culture of benefit parasites who demand everything and give nothing except violence, crime and disrespect. Take away the protective cushion and they will be forced to earn a living like the rest of us.0

Ah, see we are still stereotyping and lumping everyone in to be the same.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
i reckon horsey should watch "the scheme" on bbc2 on tuesday nights. i reckon he would spontaneously combust 17 seconds in.0

Not everyone on housing benefit are the "career" unemployed. Where have you got that from?0

A fair proportion are though.0

you don't really need to bother with the career benefits claimant argument, it's not relevant here.
the fact is, the govt has decided that the benefits available to a family should not exceed X, plus it has specified that housing benefit will not exceed Y. thus, if you're on benefits and cannot now afford to live where you are living, you will need to move, just like anyone who is not on benefits would need to do the same (regardless of their individual circumstances).
whatever a family's individual circumstances are, they don't need to live in the middle of westminster to have their basic needs met - whether or not they should be in receipt of any benefits in the first place is a different matter entirely - for the purposes of this policy it doesn't matter whether they are a horrible sponger, or a single mother whose husband has left her and doesn't pay maintenance, such that she cannot afford to support herself and her children - the rules are changing and claimants will have to adapt.0 -
about one in 5 people move each year i.e. about 4million families; so if 43,000 move because of the rent cap it is very small beer0
