Vodafone vs T-Mobile
Apologies if this has been addressed before but hopefully someone out there knows the answer.
I have a Vodafone contract phone which expires in Feb so I'm eligible for upgrades now. I checked what's available and the best seems to be t-mobile 'flext' deal on which I can get approx 250 mins and 100txts for £20 per month. I currently get 100 mins and 50 texts with Vodafone for £15 but am going to about 130-40 mins and 60-70 texts and I'll probably have greater use over the next couple of months.
Incidently I was after the K800i as a phone (£20 on t-mobile and £75 when I 1st enquired at Vodafone - that offer now reduced to free).
Anyway the Vodafone agent I spoke to today (in the 'I'm considering leaving team') made the claim to me that t-mobile round up your used minutes so if I make 2 calls and one is 2mins 40 seconds and the other is 2mins 20seconds then I'll lose 6 minutes rather than 5. His claim was that this could result in a loss of upto 40% of my allocated minutes.
Anyone confirm or deny this claim?

T-Mobile do not round up minutes to take out of the allowance. The minimum charge for Flext is 5p, once past this the calls are rated at a per second basis and taken out of the allowance. So a call for 2 mins 40 secs will be taken out of a Flext allowance as 53p, 3 mins would be 60p. If it's on Relax, then it would be taken out as 2 mins 40 secs from the voice allowance.
Hope this helps.0 -

Not really on topic but are you absolutely sure you'll be getting 250 mins and 100 texts on Flext 20? According to the website calculator the most I could get out of Flext 20 was 170 minutes (£34 allowance) or another example of 120 minutes and 100 texts. Just check before you buy!0 -
