then i just got up walked over to the fridge pulled out a carton of milk with my name handily scrawled on it…. pointed at milk carton, then to me and then to the bowl. (works milk is in glass bottles)

    :D

Lets be honest, he was out of order shouting and screaming but you were equally out of order with the way you explained it was your milk, you could easily have explained it was your milk instead of just pointing.

I don't think the Op was out of order AT ALL :)

had this person clamly asked whether the OP had used company milk for their cornflakes in an appropriate way, I am sure the Op would have responded accordingly

    well done OP !

    jonnyd281,

I take your point, however I chose to respond with the same level of professionalism he showed me.

    Fair, I would say.

I think a good slapping would be about the same level of professionalism he showed you.

    Not too late though!

You must be pleased with the HR result. Did you come out of there looking like the cat who got the cream after the unit manager was that cheesed off?

Anyways its done now no need to cry over spilt milk, it think this thread has been milked for all it's worth.

    *Oh dear*

Not really since that is stooping to the same level as him, and it ends up with HR since he is senior to you, all it would have taken is a witness prepared to back him up and you would have not been getting your redundancy money and a reference saying dismissed.

That is why it is so satisfying that the OP let him make a complete brass of himself.

And remember that a brass hole bully supported by a toady could see of any of us on your theory. Giving them any deference only exacerbates the problem. Brass hole should have backed off on seeing the carton of milk - that is evidence enough - and apologised for disturbing OP's breakfast.
