    morning!

off to do some paid cleaning this morning for a couple of hours - mainly vacuming so not too hard work.
This afternoon I'm taking DS to work then visiting Mums elderly friend in her nursing home - I've got her a huge bar of Cadburys chocolate(on offer in Morrisons) as she loves this.:)

Not sure what else we're doing today - still hoping to get news about DSs car key - seems to be taking forever.

Tea will be Quorn cottage pies (HM from the freezer) with a few potato wedges.

WM is on its spin - sunny here so far but it rained in the night.

have a great day all x

    Morning All

    Welcome newbies smiley-greet013.gif

Have been trying to get through to the doctor for 30mins and the phone is permanently engaged.
As it is shopping day today I will have to try again later or leave it until tomorrow.

Dry and sunny at the mo but haven't got enough washing to make a load.

Next week is set to be a scorcher if the forecasters are to be believed smiley-confused002.gif

Oh well I am off to give the fridge a wipe out before I fill it up with new stuff.

    Have good days all

Hi Gang first of all thank you so much for your kind wishes and thoughts for my brother Davy I too am praying that he will get through o.k.My niece arrived over here from Mexico City yesterday, and is staying in London at the moment, but she is going to try to go down to see him in France where he lives before she goes back home next month.
Well it looks like my life is going to be turned upside down for a bit as my son-in-law has been offered a job, but it means he will be doing a bit more travelling so I will be doing a bit more childcare for the little boys .Simon spent the last few years working mainly from home, and now after next week will have to travel to Ashford daily .His firm have him over a barrel really as its take the job offered, or take redundancy. The job is paying 4k less a year but at 40+ with a mortgage and five children any job is better than none at all.My DD works full time so I will be doing the school run morning and afternoon and taking care of the kids till she gets home at 6.They are good little lads and no trouble at all and if it keeps their heads above water then thats what I shall do.It means that I shall be a bit restricted as to going anywhere for awhile and summer holidays will be 'different ' but the boys are quite used to me and childcare for three boys under 12 would be a fortune .Anyway thats what families are for to pull together in tough times. We shall all have to adapt a little and the children won't always be little .The youngest Mikey(7) is thrilled to bits as he has got Granny to play with after school. But I really don't mind as they are good lads and quite helpful on the whole.
So next Thursday I start doing a bit more 'Grannying'.DD is worried that they may be too much for me but I said we won't know until we've tried will we .I know my eldest will have a whinge but I shall gently remind her that when her and her OH had similar problems a few years ago with childcare I helped out then to get them out of a hole .It will be 5 days one week and four the next so I do get a day of every fortnight.I'm sure they'll keep me on my toes :):)
Well today I am going to try and make some pepper and lentil soup and maybe some butterfly cakes for my DGS as thats their favourite.Weather looks a bit up and down and I have a washing machine load to get dry today so I'm hoping the rain will hold off for awhile
    Have a good day everyone
    Cheers JackieO xx

JackieO - I think its lovely that helping your family so much:T good on you.:A My Mum and Dad used to help me a lot when mine were little, we couldn't have managed without them plus it gave them some good times together. As you said - they wont be babies forever and being the lovely person that you are you will be giving those children a great start in life. Your family is very lucky to have you. x

    Afternoon all!

Cleaned house from top to bottom, excepting the kids' rooms! WM is whirring, loaves and rolls are rising and a double quantity of choc brownies are in the oven! Feels lovely to have some energy today, so I guess that the cold germs have finally left my system!

Need to pop and get some wax for the new coffee table, it is untreated pine, so I think I best protect it before the kids take their toll on it - actually it's usually me who spills stuff! Will then be employing a spot of elbow grease to work it in! dd1 has finished exams and is floating about today, so I shall have a helper though she doesn't know it yet! ds has also finished college for the summer, and mowing the lawn is in store for him!

Had a lovely lunch and catch up with a friend yesterday, she is busy clearing out clothes from her youngest dd for me at the mo, which is fabulous, but will prob bring back a few memories as clothes for our girls tend to ping back and forth between us! Best friend popped in for a sarnie and cuppa between his shifts yesterday, and another friend is due round soon - I think everyone must've organised a rota to check up and look after me lol! Either that or my cake tin and the recent batch of twinks is the attraction.....

Going to have a quick browse of the Lakeland sale now :) Have a good day all xx

Believe me the amount of love and affection I get from those little guys far outweighs anything I do for them. They literally light up my life, and I think I am just a slightly older ...playmate at times :):):)
DGD Holly has just popped in for a cuppa to tell me about how she hopes to go on Camp America next year during her Uni break in the summer. The children grow up so fast now it doesn't seem that long ago when they were all toddlers and now of all my 7 grandchildren the eldest is in full-time work in television, the two granddaughters have just finished college, and ones off to Uni in October and the other is hoping to get a nannying job as she fully trained now .
Then Ben, my lovely laconic DGS who towers over me at 15 and is my extra pair of hands when something needs doing around the house. It only seems like five minutes ago he was learning to toddle around my settee bless him.
The three younger boys are a delight. The youngest one Mikey and I were walking home from school the other day and he was a bit quiet, then right out of the blue he said "Granny would Granddad have liked me do you think ?" I said 'Yes of course he would honey'
(he was the only one not to know my late OH as he was born the year following his death.)
"Mmm," he said "Then why didn't he wait until I got here?" what can you say to something like that I said that 'Even though he hadn't met him I was sure he was watching over us all' 'Oh thats O.K. then' he said perking up no end :):)Kids have an answer to everything don't they.
Well dinner tonight is going to be a large salad I think as I really fancy one with all the trimmings. all the washing is dry and I shall be ironing it tonight whilst watching t.v.Hope everyone his having a good day
    Cheers chums

    Afternoon all

Aww JACKIE O that brought tears to my eyes. My Mum and Dad have a lot to do with my DS and I'm so glad that he's been able to know both of them so well.

    Welcome MUMMYEM

3 tip runs all done glad as it's tipping down now. Will get some me time this evening as DS is going to his Dad's tonight as I'm on an early tomorrow. Looking forward to some quiet time and a large vodka :D.

Hope this spell of productivity continues. Have a good night all
