vodafone problems
I upgraded in March this year on an 18 month contract, and have experienced nothing but problems and terrible CS. I have had a call back from the Directors office who have listened into a few of the calls and accepted that the service I have received is not acceptable and if I want are willing to cancel the contract for free mid term, problem is they require the handset returned. I understand that the part of the handset cost are picked up from your monthly subscription, however, I have purchased numerous things for the handset and will now be out of pocket, I also feel that I have is 4 months towards the handset so to speak. Where do I stand legally??
Many thanks in advance

The handset is yours form Day one, however three months into a contract you would normally be paying a 15 x monthly fee charge to cancel.
As a goodwill gesture they are releasing you from the contract, they could choose to hold you to it, but are asking for the phone back. You have two choices, stick your heels in and insist you keep the phone, any goodwill may vanish and you lost this option tio cancel the contract or send it back, get the same phone on another network to use the accessories.
Are you out of pocket, maybe but you chose to buy these accessories it was not part of the original contract.0 -
Have to agree that phone is subsidised over the period of the contract so getting let off early and being asked for the phone back is not unreasonable (various posts about this topic recently).
Depending on how many/much accessories you have purchased then you could explain this to VF and ask how much they would charge you to retain the phone.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Hi gjchester,
Thanks for your information. One of my friend is also facing similar kind of problem, so was just wondering if mobile unlocking can a solution for this?0 -
Are you saying that Vodafone will be happy if you unlock the handset instead of returning it?0

Sounds like wanting your cake and eating it.0

If a network agrees to cancel a contract outside its normal published t&c, then they are entitled to set down any terms upon which the contract will be allowed to lapse. The customer is then free to decide whether or not to accept these terms.
In OP's case, however, the intriguing part is just what deficiencies the Chief Exec's office detected from their side that persuaded them to allow a cancellation. Depending upon how shocking these were is likely to influence just how hard they are likely to be with any financial decisions they might make on the handset or compensation.
Whereas they might be reluctant to allow OP to keep handset, they might refund rental costs to date. Suggest that "save face" to them.0 -

Sorry not sure what you mean.
IN the OP's case the network want the phone back in exchange for releasing the customer early. Not sure how unlocking is relevent here?
It may be better to start a new thread and exapolin it there.0 -
