Moved out to live independently, encountered barriers and had no support mechanisms to provide assistance so returned to the parental home - don't see the issue.

I do, it's benefit fraud. It might be low level benefit fraud and there may well be little chance of any come back, but it's still benefit fraud.

And when claiming jsa you must report any change in circumstances , ie, change of address, so why didn't you do this?

There isn't a claim for JSA. That, would start subsequent to the return to the parental home.

Claiming CB isn't compulsory, is it?

Not claiming benefit isn't fraud. That is all the parent would be doing.

I give up. The hypocrisy on this forum staggers me at times.

If I posted on here that I was considering lying about something so I could gain extra benefits, e.g. pretending my partner doesn't live with me, the good people on this forum would quite rightly have my guts for garters. But it's ok for the OP to lie in order to beat the system?

Ohreally, i can't be bothered to argue the toss with you over it, at the end of the day you can twist the original suggestion as much as you like, it's wrong to do it end of.
i for one would have more morals and would support my child myself.

So what your suggesting is he should go rent and get housing benefit so they won't be guilty of your daft accusations?

No, I'm suggesting they continue to receive child benefit until such time as he's allowed to claim JSA, like all the other families in the same position will be doing. It's not as if they're worse off than they were before.

stop the bickering people. OP just tell them your child is moving out. trust me a little white lie that results in stopping a payment is actually a good thing here.

so now you know what to do at 9am on monday. hope this has helped
So what address does the child give for the JSA claim? Teaching your children to lie is an appalling way to bring up children.
  • I am 19 years old also and I am unable to claim JSA as my mum is receiving child benefit. I just left college and I am in search for a job......... I am not going to get any ema or JSA how am I going to cover myself for driving lessons, food and clothes.

If you can not afford driving lessons, then you can not have them.

Your mother receives the £20/week to feed and clothe you. Perhaps you could ask her to give the money to you so that you are able to do that for yourself.
