This bunch of Cowboys do my head in!!!!
I have recently moved house and due to talktalk being useless I had to call BT to get it done! I now have a new phone number and a BT account and have been trying to contact talktalk to get my account transfered to the new number... As most of you know they are that hot on answering the phones...
So hear is my question, what happens if I cancel my direct debit and just go with BT? I signed up to Broadband in July but have been a talktalk customer much longer than that.

Hi,
I am due to move in January. I am a recent Talk Talk customer and I emailed them to let them know i want the number moved. After 2 weeks I got no reply from them.
I am getting nervous as I want to use my number for work and it will be on business cards and adverts etc. If i dont get the number moved before i move then i dont know what to do. I contacted BT and they said they dont move if i am a talktalk customer as it is talk talk who own the line now.
Anybody know what i can do?

Welcome to the MSE forums nugnag.
I'm afraid I think you are in for extensive problems. I'm almost certain Talk Talk will either do nothing or, if they do something, will do it wrong. They'll then probably try to pass the buck back to you by saying you should contact BT (false) and/or will deny all knowledge of any communication from you.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Well I've just gone through this pain, this lot are a complete disaster!!
After a nightmare setting the thing up in the 1st place, I phoned before I moved home and was told to contact BT (which as Heinz correctly states is not true) which I did. They told me to fill in a homemover form on their website, which I did - twice. Having heard nothing, I phoned them and guess what, they knew nothing about it. Filled the form in over the phone and was told I would be contacted within 72 hours. I wasn't!! so I phoned them. The form hadn't been processed yet so they had no date for either the phone or Broadband transfer (by now I had moved house).
The guy I spoke to was, to be fair very good and understanding, and tried to 'VIP' this transfer, which in TalkTalk's little world means phone line transferred in 10 working days and Broadband by the end of JANUARY!!! This was at the beginning of December, god knows how long you'd wait if you wern't 'VIP'd'
I immediately cancelled it, told them they could whistle for the £70 cancellation fee, which they accepted and I cancelled my direct debit.
My advice...........firstly don't touch this crowd with a bargepole. Secondly if you are moving house and already have the TalkTalk service, don't even begin to try to transfer it, just cancel and save yourself alot of time, effort and grief. If you are using them to supply a business connection, then get rid now before they seriously damage you health and wealth.
A complete shower of amatures, pay more to someone else but get something in return!!0 -
Sounds like they're taking the money and running. They spend millions on those TV commercials full of people acting out like life is so harmonious and groovey. then they shaft their customers!
What are they like. Typical big business greedy greedy greedy.
if they really cared for us they would hire thousands of staff rightaway to sort it out. It reminds me of some shops which are understaffed, expect their staff to do the work of 4 people and threaten them if they don't reach the high and unobtainable targets. I witnessesed this style of work ethic in the USA.
It is up to us to stop it. Basically I am quitting Talk Talk and i am not paying the £70 as the broadband is very slow, my Norton Live update now dosen't work, the email is just so slow and poor. basically get talk talk if you want your PC to be F*****d up! I also don't have the call forwarding I am paying for.
If you're thinking save money get talk talk. think again0
