    Hi Everyone

Just a quickie - had a really busy day and am shattered.

Hi Kittie - welcome - I love dates too.

Maman - That country house looks truly fab, a great excuse to pull out the stops and go for something really gorgeous.

Have you tried looking at what used to be Country Casuals - now CC. They have stores in most large cities. https://www.ccfashion.co.uk

Not cheap - even in the sales but they might be worth looking at.

Whilst typing this I'm watching "French & Saunders At the Movies". I love their movie send ups - gloriously silly.

Not much beautifying today - however, the garage is coming along nicely:D

    G'night all

    Morning :hello:

Maman we're going on the 24th of september. I like Charlestown too :)

The washing machine still isn't back in it's place properly (I need to fix batoning to the wall first) but I moved it close enough to attach the pipes - I had to, I ran out of clean knickers :D I did all the washing and when it was dry, I sorted my clothes. I only have one tidy jumper, all the others are only fit for wearing around the house. So I need to go shopping, Oh I Hate Shopping with a passion, lol. I'll make of list of other bits and pieces and get everything at once, I really hate going into town so this way I'll only have to go once more before Christmas.

My eating habits are a lot healthier lately, though I still reach for the chocolate a bit too often :o Mr tru picked a load of tomatoes yesterday and made some lovely thick soup out of them. That's lunch sorted for today :D

    Morning all

Have just been catching up so welcome to the new people, :j yay to those of you (most of you!) who seem to be doing fab and being very productive and *hugs and positive vibes to those who might be a little off-track.

Have had a manically busy week. Little brother came up on Tuesday and we have been out and about, mainly seeing festival shows all week. Also had my last 2 shows on the Thursday and Friday - brother and OH came to the Friday which was nice even if it definately made me more nervous :rotfl: They both seemed to like it, even OH which surprised me as I know it's not really his thing. Anyway he went back home on Saturday so didn't really know what to do with myself yesterday - bit of an anti-climax I think. However am determined to get remotivated this week on all sides - must get back onto the exercise and healthy eating as well as working on the new income things.
    Hope everyone's having a good day x

    Good morning everyone

Just having a little "rest" on here - trying to do a bit of cleaning today.

I really should listen to the physio - I am a mass of aches and pains this morning - so stiff and sore. I think I've definitely overdone things the last few days, plus of course only the basics in carers (Bank Holiday) so having to do many of the transfers alone.

It's all really taking it's toll on my poor old body. Anyway had a good long soak in the bath, gone back to wearing my copper bracelet, am going to dig out my magnetic necklace, using the ibuprofen gel (industrial strength) Will mix up some lavender oil body massage oil and try and give myself a mini massage.

What a pity I can't take anti-inflammatories - I even had to give up the turmeric in milk trial - it just upset my tummy.

    Anyway enough of my moaning.

I am resolved that as from today will start exercising again, just some gentle yoga to start. I have been a bit remiss of late.

I will also try and book a course of physio/sports massage at David Lloyds - expensive but it really does help. I'm going to see if I can negotiate a discount by booking a course - rather than just going on an "ad hoc" basis.

Unfortunately the NHS physio on my elbow has done nothing to alleviate the pain. Sometimes I think it's better to just to pay privately and get more "targeted" treatment.

I have been very remiss at taking care of myself in general this last few weeks. Healthy eating has slipped, exercise regime gone to pot, only basic beauty routines.

So today I have made up some of my rose oil anti-againg serum (or in my case try and turn back the clock potion:rotfl:), have given myself a deep cleansing face mask, tidied my eyebrows and a few facial stray hairs which we don't discuss;), and a mini manicure.

The extreme cleaning of the garage, loading the skip etc has taken it's toll on my hands, sore ragged cuticles, minor cuts and grazes, dry sandpaper skin so have made a start on my hands with some serious TLC.

So as you can see - I'm fighting back again. Never give up.

    Persistance Pays Off

    Bye for now x

PP - Hi Pod - noticed your sig - you're doing very well on your financial challenge. I need to get my act together - although I've made a few shekels on jewellery this week.

    Hi everyone,

Not a good weekend again DS2 fiance's father died, it was expected but still devastating. Seems to have been a really bad year for those close to me. This is the 3rd death in as many months. Finding it very difficult to know what to say to those closest to those who've died - i know there's nothing you can say really but feel as though -so sorry and thinking of you, just don't really sum it up. Maybe its because I'm getting older I don't know but its really got to me.

Anyway needless to say not much beautifying except for walking - at least when you have a dog you have no choice but to go out and where I walk is lovely so it always perks me up a bit.

We'l all bounce back i know it just takes time.

  • Lizzie, it is so difficult to know what to say, it does all sound a bit, well inadequate, especially if you have said it all/ heard it all before. Is there anything you can do? make a meal? baby sit ? I never find things like that easy - I know no- one does really but I wonder if being practical might help?

so long as they know you care, its got to help a little bit.
    Hugs

Bit tired for a proper post tonight but had to send you a
:grouphug: lizzie. It's so hard to find the right words. I think the Irish just say 'sorry for your loss' and that seems to convey the right thoughts.

Moved DD1 into her new house today. Brilliant removal men and we've got them straight with beds up and made with fresh bedding so they can sleep well. Makes them sound like cattle:rotfl:Still lots to do but a successful day. NOTHING done fabwise and my nails are a mess from endless bowls of soapy water washing things down:o. I did slather with handrceam this evening as my skin seemed to be shouting for it.

    Chat more tomorrow. 'night all.

    Hi Everyone

Just wanted to say Hi to Lizzie, big hugs. Hope you feel a bit better soon.

Would just echo what Buffy suggested, perhaps practical help although sometimes just a few simple words straight from the heart. They may sound lame or trite in your ears but I'm sure the recipient won't think of them in that way.

I know that my situation is different in that OH is still alive, although as I've explained before MY OH isn't - if you catch my meaning. However, what I've found hurtful is that I know that there are some people who avoid contact with us.

I think it's embarrassment - they don't know what to say or how they should behave. Trust me it hurts when people do that, better to say something, or even just hug them.

Years ago I worked with a lady whose husband died suddenly. Most of the people in our office didn't know how to act around her. They were desperate not to upset her or offend. So much so that no one spoke to her and she sat all alone.

Well - you've guessed it - you know who couldn't stand it, so I went over to her, said how sorry I was and did she want to join me and a couple of the others for lunch., or if she couldn't face food, then just a coffee.

She later told me how nervous she was coming back to work and that my gesture/invitation meant a great deal to her.

To me - it just seemed the right thing to do, I didn't think it right that she was being left all alone.

DS2 has just bought me my bed-time hot milk, not that I'll struggle to sleep tonight - I'm done for. Busy day tomorrow - and these days I'm not much good at burning the candle at both ends.:D

    G'night all. x

    Hey Everyone,

Just catching up with the thread after my hols...

LL, that really is great news that the PCT should be able to fund your OH's care. :T

Lizzie - where did you get your little sliky mit thing for your face from? I've been looking for one for a while but can't find one.

Maman - Congratulations on your DGD1's B in Maths!!! That is an amazing achievement!:T

Hi Debbie  I've heard a lot of people mention Kettlenetics, so will be interested to hear about how you get on with it.

There is more that I'd like to say, but I'm V.tired and not feeling too great tonight. :( Will be back tomorrow...

    hi
thanks for your kind words, Buffy, Maman and LL.

I think the same about people avoiding those who have lost someone close and so even if its difficult to face I always do speak to them and say I'm sorry. Its just that as has been said sometimes it just doesn't seem enough.

Lolly- its not exactly a silky mit (in that its not in a mitten style). Its a small oval/oblong rubbery thing with a raised bit to hold onto. It has a few pink sheets which you stick on the holder and then use to get rid of your tache. I get them from Savers, but I think I'v seen some in Wilkos and Superdrug. I have actually alo used my epilator on my top lip ( a bit painful), and the other day I came across a video of how to do threading on you tube. Although I would need to practice before I did my eyebrows -I was surprised at how easy it is -and so an gonna practice on my top lip with that a bit I think.
