Just sending you this LL
and  to your so-called friends. Maybe it was more guilt you heard in her voice rather than disapproval that things had got to the stage of residential care without them even knowing?? As for the embarassed friend perhaps it was a poor choice of words, maybe he feels uncomfortable or distressed. I know I felt like that when my poor SIL had a horrible stroke. I hated seeing her like that but it didn't stop me visiting. I had to steel myself/put on a face etc. but I did it, as much for BIL as anyone else as he obviously needed suppport.
One plus, I think it's a good sign that yu're ready to tell people what's happening in the new year.
Back later.
P.S. Glad to help with meal planning if I can.
Maybe you're right Maman - the voice of sweet reason and all that - maybe I'm just too supersensitive at the moment, although tbh the second incident with the guy who is "too embarrassed" is absolutely true - it is what he said.
Theres have been a couple of times when he's been in our company and after a brief hello to OH he has just completely ignored him.
There have been a couple of other incidents two which DS1 has told me about and which we've kept secret from OH.
Oh well - it's just not worth getting in a stew over - I've got bigger fish to fry.
Anyway just to let you all know I've calmed down now.:)
As you can tell I have become fiercely protective towards OH and tend to shield him as much as I can.
Most people are lovely but then again some folk are just downright crass. In the early days of his illness, before he was confined to a wheelchair, people would see him wobbling and swaying and hear his slurred speech and just make the assumption that he was drunk.
Needless to say they swiftly got the sharp edge of my tongue. :rotfl:
Anyway thanks for all your kind words folks - you really are a lovely bunch.
G'night all x0 -
Sending you lots of hugs and love LL. I know that only my true friends remain now too and loneliness was one of the reasons I came on MSE. Then I met Mooloo - whose thread I followed. I suddenly realised that she must live quite close to me and very tentatively asked if she would like to meet for a cuppa. Well the rest is history and she has become my truest friend and i feel very privileged to have her and her DGD in my life. They now live just a few minutes away:j:j:j So there is hope for the future and new friends to be made - such as you lovely folks on this very thread xx
It does sound like your hubby is settling very well into his care home so hopefully there will be new opportunities for friendships there too and for you also at craft groups perhaps? I noticed that many of the women at Denman had "lost" someone or something be it actual bereavement, retirement, health etc xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
I also wanted to tell you that I was again talking to my Psychologist about you lovely lot and he was very interested. He has done a lot of work around the Psychology of Appearance and how looking good goes hand-in-hand with feeling better about ourselves, nurturing ourselves and improved self-esteem. So although we already know we are truly and totally FAB - it is now OFFICIAL :j:j:jI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

@LL - sorry to hear about those so-called 'friends'. It can be hurtful to realise people you thought cared are actually idiots who don't. But you're better off without those people.
@maman - I wear either hold-ups, stockings or thigh high socks every day. I never wear tights. I've only started wearing dresses recently (since being on this thread!) and now I wear one every day. Depending on the style of dress and the length depends whether I wear stocking, hold-ups or long socks.
For example, I have some 'cute' kawaii dresses so they get thigh high/over the knee socks. Other dresses get stockings, or hold-ups if the dress is short enough that you might see the suspenders when I walk, or tight enough to see them!
Today I have on hold-ups. Sheer black, with a cuban heel and seemed. Then I have a 40s style dress and sparkly silver flats. I could get away with wearing stockings with this dress, but I'm in work today and prefer to wear hold-ups just in case. Since I work in an office full of men, I don't want to scare/distract them!carpe diem

Morning. I feel somewhat better, as made myself wear a dress yesterday, and that meant some small heeled shoes instead of boots, or crocs, and the difference was significant, so today I have put on a skirt and jumper. Still need to get the old skin routine back up and running, but been sewing again, so I am happier within myself for doing the things that I want to do.
Thanks for those lovely words Molly, I agree that MSE has really been significant in our lives, and I thank that day that you suggested we meet for a cuppa. No looking back now.!! Again its a mutual appreciation fan here!.
I look forward to our chats, and never feel so lonely anymore. (Well I say never, I do sometimes at the weekends, but that will soon change nodoubt!), will just have to get somethingelse to fill my time instead of the BF!! It was interesting to get a text message from him at the airport saying that he is missing me! Thats a minor miracle in its self.
Right I am off to sew. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Haha!
I have worn stockings ever since I came back to the UK at 16 years of age.! I didnt give a dam if the fellas found out! and I worked in a male orientated environment most of the time. It didnt become an issue once they realised that it was just me. Although I was often named "sexy legs" apparantly. (So I am told since!).
Its only been the last few months that I have had tights on, and thats only as my mum gave me aload of spare ones! I shall be back to stockings when I have found a few new suspenderbelts. thats the problem. they are hard to find. Maybe I should make my own one day.!

Had a dreadful night, really bad backache yesterday, last night couldn't sleep and nasty chest pains again. Nothing sinister - "just" stress so need to try and take it easy today.
OH's PA kindly drove me to see OH today - he seems perky enough. Had a chat with the Matron and she has confirmed that basically he can stay as long as necessary, permanently if he's ready so we'll just wait and see how I go.
What I need to do now is contact SS and the Welfare Rights Officer but not today.:o Will get my head round it all next week - I just want to be an ostrich for a few days.
DS2 has bought a dongle so we can take OH his computer over during the next few days. I've also taken a few more of his personal things over, a couple of photos, his clock etc so that he has familiar things around him.
I am waiting for his new wheelchair to be delivered. If it comes early enough I might then just start the car up (not turned the engine over since Saturday). I think I might be able to drive now.
Have to say it was very nice to get out for a couple of hours today, have been housebound since Sunday when I first hurt my back. Nice warm(ish) sunny day here.
I popped into a nice little farm shop on the way to the nursing home. It was lovely, great produce and very reasonably priced too. Can I class the tub of home made organic toffee ice cream as medicinal. :rotfl:
Mooloo [/B - I think I see a mini business opportunity for you on the horizon - making suspender belts:D
I would love some really pretty undies - a gorgeous basque type suspender belt. Have you seen the price of the nice ones like Agent Provocateur. I know you can buy cheaper ones - but frankly Anne Summers is just so not my style:eek:
Many years ago I used to work with a lady who was a very talented seamstress. She used to make lingerie for Harrods.
I'm sure there would be a market there for you. I would certainly be one of your customers.:rotfl:
Molly 41 - Are we going to be your Psychologist's "subjects" for his Nobel Prize Winning Research. If so then we want a share of the prize money.:rotfl::rotfl:
Anyway going to do a little gentle filing and paper sorting and then doze my way through nice DVD. I dug out the Thomas Crown Affair the other day. Today I might watch Memoirs of a Geisha.
I recently did a cull of DVD's and I probably ought to do another one (I still have at least 200 - not counting downloads). However, when I really need to rest I love to settle down with a good film.
Hope you are all having a good day.0 -
Stuffed full of some chocolate tonight after a difficult day at work today. Pleased I have a day off tomorrow and have 3 days at uni next week and only 2 days in next week
Not much fabbing going on today apart from normal skincare routine and nail oil - and another G+T for me then in bed early knocked out hopefully!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
LL - Sorry to hear about your back and stress. Hope you are taking it easy.
Mooloo - Sending hugs and hope you are feeling brighter soon.
Betony - Congratulations on losing a stone. :j
Podperson - Have you caught up with your OU work? You seem sooo busy, which is good, but you do sound a bit frazzled!
I finally submitted my OU assignment at 1am! I stressed myself out about it, as I got behind with the reading and then had to rush through the assignment questions. Has anyone got any tips for motivation/avoiding procrastination?
I have been on two walks so far this week, another one planned tomorrow as I'm walking sister's dog again. Over the weekend I want to use exercise bike and do some more sit ups and 'girl' press ups!
After eating everything I could lay my hands on yesterday, I have resumed sensible eating today - just had a yummy bowl of butternut squash soup.
I too love films to relax to LL - don't get rid of your DVDs if you love them! I have recently joined Lovefilm, so I can watch films/TV series without having to buy them, or if I miss them on TV. My current (guilty) secret is that I am working my way through the Twilight Saga, and then I am going to see the new Twilight film at the cinema next week. Pretty vampires/werewolves rock (even if they are all only about 12 years old!)0 -
Hope you have a better night tonight LL.
Callisto well done on completing your assignment. Emjoy your walk tomorrow.
Have a good night everyoneIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0
