Can I ask what this redness moisturiser is, please?? I'm fed up of looking all blotchy ~ I was out last night & my face was like a belisha beacon :( Think it was a combination of warmish pub & a glass of wine, but no one else was red, just me!!

Your redness sounds just like mine. I had a consultation at the Clinque counter in May and explained my symptoms and was recommended the redness range that the Clinque lady tried out on me. It felt great and I was very surprised by how good it felt. I bought the moisturiser and daily face base and I could tell after a few days my symptoms were lessening. Then I noticed after a few weeks I was not going red and blotchy in situations I would normally. And for the first time ever I thought 'I've found a winner here!'. It worked and I never thought it would. And people noticed. A friend said to me 'what have you done to your skin? It always looks good but now you don't have that blotchiness you get'. At this point I thought blimey it's working, its not just me that thinks so!

Then my pot ran out and after a week or so the symptoms returned. I thought I would be ok for a few months without it and then decided to return to it and put my other moisturisers in the drawer for little longer.

Anyway after all my rambling, you could try a consulation appt at the counter, explain your smptoms and then decide what works for you.

Hello Everyone, Hello and welcome to Pink Poppy

No of course you are not too late to join us and it's certainly never to late to start being Fab. I intend to carry on fabbing until they cart me off in a wooden box:rotfl: Oooh a film title there - set in a beauty salon/spa perhaps- well someone did once say I reminded them of Hattie Jacques:eek:

Re the redness - could be several reasons for this. I suggest you follow Fed-ups (aka Sparkles - much more fun) advice and check out the Clinique range, let them have a look and give you a proper "diagnosis".

There are lots of foundations/primers etc with a green base which helps to cover up redness or high colouring but they don't actually address the underlying cause. Better to correct the condition properly like Sparkles did.

I don't like to particularly recommend any one brand of cosmetics because we are all different and what suits one may not suit another. Sadly I do think it's often trial and error.

A lot of beauty therapists will tell you that they think that Clinque is too harsh - however, I used them for years and was absolutely fine. The only reason I stopped was financial.

Now that the worst of my financial woes are over I may well go back to them. Yes they can be a bit pricey but my view is if something works well for you then just save up for it, perhaps cut back somewhere else in the budget. Look out for offers etc. They usually offer samples to try out first anyway.

My skin is really sore today, especially just underneath one of my eyes. I find that particular area can be very tempramental. It must have been something used in the facial yesterday. She did seem to go overboard a bit with the exfoliation stage. I've also been using almond oil instead of grape seed oil - could be that. As I say it's all trial and error.

OH home today and everything at sixes and sevens. Not much fabbing or exercise today but did manage a short walk in the sunshine - better than nothing.

Anyway off to relax for a while and then off to bed.

An extra hour's beauty sleep tonight ladies :)

    G'night all x
  • Hi there,

Just a quick delurk. love your fabness.:T

LL...I had to join to let you know about a really lovely moisturiser.

Avene Eau Thermal Skin Recovery Cream.

I use the lotion, the rich formula is a bit heavy for me.

Its available in Boots £12.50. on offer 3 for 2 at the moment.
It was recommended to me by an employee at Boots when my skin went really unsettled after using roc cream. I've used it now for about 5 years.:D

I will go back to lurkdom now.:rotfl:
I'm on a computer all day at work so posting does seem like more of an effort than reading :rotfl:
May be back one day you are all very inspiring:T

Thanks for the welcome Bitsy, Sparkles & LL :D

Awake stupidly early thanks to joint pain ~ had this for the last 3 months so probably another reason why I look as rough as a badger's!! :rotfl:

Anyway, thanks for the redness comments ~ I tend to get it on my cheeks, the bridge of my nose & more recently my chin!! The triggers are mostly social situations, occasionally alcohol & very often heat. I have wondered in the past if I have rosacea, but I don't get bumpy skin, just redness & a burning feeling ~ it's been the bane of my life for years :(

I hadn't heard of Clinique's redness range before so I've looked on their website & read all about it. It does sound as if it could be ideal for me as I do have broken thread veins on my cheeks as well. Will need to pluck up courage & go for a consultation :o

Another quick question ~ I have a blackhead right on my cheekbone (goodness me I sound like a right catch don't I, lol!!) & wondered if anyone had any ideas on how to get rid?? I don't really want to try steaming it out (because of existing redness/thread vein problem) so any other tried & tested methods would be gratefully received :D

    Hi pink poppy :)

Podperson - I'm doing a level 1 Environmental Science course - 'Journeys through a changing world'. It is really interesting and I am enjoying it, but it is shocking how humans have been so destructive to the planet in a relatively short time! Even if we were to stop releasing so much carbon into the atmosphere now, we will still be feeling the effects for a century!

Lolly - Thanks for the yoga recommendation, I don't have a Wii unfortunately. However I have found a Yogalates DVD while looking for things to sell on Ebay, so I will try it out this evening.

As has been discussed recently I get a red face quite often, my nose and my cheeks go really red, if I am too warm, have drunk alcohol (I rarely drink now though) or if embarrassed! I will certainly consider the Clinique range when I am a bit richer, thanks Sparkles!

Lizzie - Thank you so much for the information. I have had a quick look and will work through it properly when I have some time to myself.

I have decided I don't want to be a bridesmaid for my sister, I just have to find a way of telling her now before she orders the dresses... :( She has three other bridesmaids. I just can't face doing it, my self esteem/confidence is at rock bottom, I've never worn the style of dress she is getting (strapless and fish tail style) and I really don't think it will suit me, I'm a pear shape and asked her to get a-line style.

Also the whole occasion will just remind me of everything that my relationship isn't. I am so happy for her and her partner, I just don't think I will be able to handle the cameras being on us all day and having to fake a smile without running away! I think I would be much better to step back and 'just' be a guest, rather than risk ruining her day! Sorry to be on a downer, but I am feeling so miserable about letting her down.
  • Hi Pink Poppy and LL thanks for the kind welcome.:T

Just though i would mention Boots do give samples, ask the consultant on the skin department. That is how i first tried it. I feels really nice on your skin.

Pink Poppy, they do an anti-redness cream in the Avene range also. I haven't tried it but it has good reviews on the boots website.

Eau Thermal Avene Anti-redness light moisturing cream.

    Have a good sunday all.

    Thank you deedee :)

I've just had a look on the Boots website & the Avene range sounds good too. Will have a look in my local Boots, not sure they'll have it as it's only a smallish store but it's worth a try, I already know they don't have the Clinique stuff :( I didn't even know these anti-redness creams existed, I'm so glad I started reading this thread :D

I'm starting my new healthy eating & exercise regime tomorrow, see if I can shed a few lbs before the Winter Solstice ;)

Good luck with your plan poppy!

Keep popping on here to keep you going and update us with how your new regime is going

Callisto - your redness sounds exactly the same as mine - the redness cream I use lasts around 3-4mths and I only use it in the morning to try and eek it out a bit longer

Just caught up with all the posts since I left on Monday!!! I'd love to stop and chat but it's almost time for Downton.

Just had to post this link for LL. Apologies to the 'youngsters' on the thread but maybe your granny sung it to you:rotfl:
