Please could I join this thread. I care for my elderly parents, and also my son. My Mum is at present in hospital with heart failure and my Dad has moved into sheltered housing. I feel very fraught at the moment. I also work part time, and I feel I have very little time to myself.

Hello and welcome :) I'm not too good at giving advice, but someone will be along with some words of wisdom soon. Have a hug th_smiley_hug2.gif

I've been out and got the evil job done - clothes shopping :rotfl: I went to three shops - THREE  - that's a marathon for me :D

I bought 10 pairs of knickers, a pair of boots, two long sleeved t-shirts, a chunky cardi, a shirt, two pairs of thick woolly tights, a pair of leggings and a handbag. If the leggings aren't the type to go baggy at the knees after ten minutes wear, then I'll go back for more. I also bought some dye (two colours) for my still-tidy-but-faded clothes.

I took my nail varnish off the other day, my toenails are bare at the moment because the varnish has left them a horrible yellowy colour. Does that disappear quickly?

I told my boss I'd bring one of my calendars into work for the office. Well, one each because we're both possessive over our own space and desk :rotfl: She said to bring in a selection of my stuff and she'll clear a space on the counter for them. I said we'd have to work out how much I'll give her for each sale (she's VAT registered, I'm not, so it'd have to be worth her while), she said don't be daft, just keep it all for yourself :T

Before my shopping spree this morning, I realised I'm always going to be a girl and will never be grown up enough to be a woman :rotfl: Not a girly-girl, I've never been one of those, lol.

  • Sorry to hear about your mum vnms, sounds like you have a lot on your plate xxx
Feel free to join in, even if its just to chat. My "me" time generally ends up with small persons being around which can drive me to distraction but am hoping that will improve as they get slightly older.

  • Well done on your shopping spree Tru.

    I bought these boots today

Sorry am on my iPad so its hard to do hyperlinks. Anyway they're plastic fantastic (for that price of course) and unfortunately they aren't black but I've worn them all afternoon and they arenvery comfy. Best thing is I don't struggle to zip them up like I do my old knee high boots :o

Oooh they're similar to the ones I bought a little while ago. I bought my new ones from Matalan but they're not on the website. I love both pairs :D I take a pic tomorrow and post them on here.

  • Thanks for all the welcomes.

Today I burnt off 856 kcal from the target of 200kcal daily and went over the kcal allowance of 1300 by 326 totalling 1626kcal. So evens out more or less today.

I have exfoliated and face masked today and piled on some superskin moisturiser and oil to replenish. Need to find a better eye cream as I can see the crows feet starting to appear. My current one isn't doing too well. I can use this one in the morning and find a better one for overnight time

Starting tomorrow the exercise plan will restart after a week off feeling run down with a cold. And by next week if all goes to plan I should reach my 2nd running target.

Then its time to have a look at some classes eg circuits or spinning and see if I fancy going to them

Oooops - done it again - that should read Day 81

    Hi there anyway

Welcome to VNMS - sorry to hear about your Mum, must be very difficult for you. You have an awful lot on your plate so just take it easy and do what you can when you can.

Not sure whether you have read much of the thread, but if you go to post no 59 & 61 you'll find a few ideas about getting organised and time planning. Anyway good luck, glad you decided to join in.

Tru - your shopping spree sounded good - some great Autumn wardrobe staples there.

Great boots Bitsy - agree about Gok and his belt fettish - they are not for everyone - if you're not careful all the fabric that is pulled in will gather into folds above and below the waist and make you look larger . The tied in the middle sack of potatoes look is not a goodone:rotfl:

Re the toenail discolouration - some good nail technicians will offer a special pedicure which includes a small machine with buffs the nail. You can do them yourself with a manual buffer - basically it's just "sanding" the top layer of the nail off, so it has to be done very carefully so as not to thin the nail and damage it. You could try neat lemon juice to whiten them.

Of course prevention is better than cure so it's best to paint a base coat on first if you want to wear the darker polishes. The discolouration will fade with time - normally a couple of weeks or so.

Nice easy day here today, planted my winter pansies and violas also some brussels and broccoli - hopefully out of the llamas' reach.:D

Now up to 3kms on bike, aiming for at least 5. Hoping to try walking next week - one day I would like to try the Couch to Running thingy but not nearly fit enough yet. Back and neck giving me gyp again.:(

Tired tonight - was awake till nearly 4 last night - just couldn't "switch off" - here's hoping tonight will be better.

G'night all x - hope you all had a fab weekend.

Maman - not sure when you are going away - so will take this opportunity to wish you a lovely holiday. Where are you going - somewhere nice and warm???;)

 that's a very ...erm... good weight, skipsmum!! Congratulations on becoming a grandma and delighted to hear that both mum and baby are doing well.

Just a quick post: I'm not off on holiday until Wednesday. We're doing a tour of Classical Spain. It'll be the first 'guided' tour we've ever done but price was better than DIY. So it's fly to Malaga then Seville, Ronda, Toledo, Granada. Good news is tempreratures are high 20s. It'll be good to see some sun!!!

I have similar problems with discoloured nails and base coats definitely help. I've left my nails unpainted (but all shaped and cut)for a few weeks for various reasons but will definitely be doing toes again before Wednesday.

Had yet another invitation yesterday: DH's cousin was a child bridegroom (really, only 16:eek:) and he celebrates his Golden Wedding anniversary in January. So that's another reason to wear nice frocks.

Very interested to read about clothes shopping/dress wearing earlier. I haven't worn leggings for years but seriously thinking of buying some plus opaques for the winter as much for warmth as fashion. When I was buying the Tesco dress this week I saw some lovely textured/aran type leggings that would look good with my boots. Thanks also for pointer about Asda. I need to think seriously about autumn/winter wardrobe. All ideas very welcome.

    Sleep well all.
