Good afternoon!
I had a fairly quiet day at work, and came home to find my final Kenwood contender (A901E) outside my bedroom door.
Just at the point I thought this was the one to keep, there was a fizz, a bang, and another fizz followed by white smoke. Cue opening the windows to get the smoke cleared ASAP!! A quick look on this forum and inside my machine shows that it's a capacitor or two, so saturday will probably be spent a) learning how to solder and b) buying and putting in the replacement components. The seller said it had only been used 6 times, and judging by the sound of the machine before it went pop and its general condition I believe him. It was quieter than it's rival from about 15 years ago, and handled the dough beautifully. Maybe the time in the loft degrated the the electrics on the circuit board.
OS wise I did finish the dough, and the two loaves are about to go in the oven, so that's bread done for the next day or two. :j I also had fun with the shredder attachment grating three bags' worth of cheese for the freezer. On Friday I will grate some carrots and cabbage to make coleslaw for lunches (I have a pot of mayonnaise at work). I hadn't realised how much I missed the one I had to leave back in England, so all in all I'm having a lot of fun making OS excuses to play with my toys! :rotfl:
Weather here is wet and almost cool during the day, but much warmer than last winter which was bitter, so it almost doesn't feel like winter at all. Going almost straight from the British winter of 2009/2010 into the New Zealand winter of 2010 was not fun. Even better is my flat is north facing and gets sun all day, so we don't have the mould issue that many Kiwi flats and houses do (central heating is a rarity here). Still, a good stew is very welcome!0 -
Hi, this is my first post here. I am sewing a doll to sell to my Daughter's colleague.....graduation gift for her Daughter. I have used all bits I had in my stash so the money will be profit. Also today I am going to take photos of bits I found in a sort out yesterday.....will list them on Ebay.
Dinner tonight is going to be - Egg and Bacon Pie.....bacon from the freezer.....tomato past it's best. I was in T the other day with my youngest Son who was buying 5 carrots.....under instruction from his partner. He was going to buy loose carrots but I persuaded him to buy a 79p bag - 2kg. He took 5 straight whole carrots and I paid him 50p for the rest of the bag....I don't care is a carrot is misshapened. So it is carrots as our veg tonight.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Afternoon All,
JO positive vibes fro your DB
Been over to Bury market this morning and bought some fish. My DS1 is going to make us a fish curry which I have never tried before. He is really suffering with awful Hayfever at the moment. We bought some tablets for him to try from the chinese herbalist as we have tried everything the chemist has to offer. Does anybody have any suggestions as its making his life a misery at the moment:(
Also got a great meat pack, including gammon, bacon, chicken breasts, marinated chicken and pork chops all for £10, bargain:money:
Tonight we will visit the Trafford Centre as my youngest DS has vouchers to spend from his birthday. Probably have tea out as well.
Just booked a spray tan for tomorrow as we are out for a special meal for our anniversary on Friday and I always feel better if I look brown (brown fat is always better than white:rotfl:)
Am on the second day of a wheat free diet, so far so good. Bought some wheat free crackers as I usually have crackers with houmus for lunch and they taste great, am going to try and make wheat free bread at the weekend. Its fairly easy if you stay away from processed foods , it will be totally worth it for me if it improves my IBS which makes my life a misery.
Anyway off to parcel up my ebay items, have a good day all xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Good afternoon
I had a few things to get in Manchester today-couldn't put it off any longer-so got the first cheap train. Quite a good days shopping for a change. DD wanted a cheap nightie to take into hospital when she has her baby in the autumn. She doesn't have a Primark so I'd offered to get her one . I got a really nice cotton night shirt with buttons down the front so can give it to her when we visit next month.I also go a set of little plastic bottles to put shampoo etc in when we go on holiday.
Finally I decided to go into Marks food hall to get a couple of things to take when we go walking this weekend. I've never seen so many yellow-stickered reduced to clear items-I got two packets of pasties, a chicken breast roast and some pain-au-raison.They are all safely in the freezer now. I would have got more but couldn't carry it. It was quite funny watching people-there were some like me with baskets full of yellow-stickered items then there were the people who only picked up the full price things even though there were reduced versions which would freeze next to them.
I got home in time for a late lunch and plan to catch up with my knitting this afternoon. Hamburgers (from Marks) for dinner with salad .0 -
Afternoon all
Didn't get online this morning, ran out of time.
I'm off to babysit for DD2 this evening, just cooking tea at the mo, LO roast beef, warmed up in gravy, with HG cabbage & HG potatoes.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

JO - my thoughts are with you and your brother
Catsmith thanks for the recommendation!
So went to drs, can't find a reason for my side painsgot to wait it out a while before more tests, but it's not liver/kidney etc so thats good. Reynaulds - well nothing really, preventing my fingers getting cold is the best thing, but it's not lasting damage that is being caused, just an inconvenience.
I went to the farm shop at lunch and got 8 apples and a bunch of 7 bananas for £1 in total! Bargain!
OH is still working and has pup with him, so i'm about to go for my bath, then i need to nip to shops to get bin liners.

Julie - I have never suffered but been told that eating local (it has to be local) honey helps. I am not sure if you have to start eating it just before the start of hayfever season.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife
