sorry i haven't been on to answer everyone sooner, but ill try to now:
the price with sp on a standard tariff is
sc unit rate
exc vat 25.57 12.123
inc vat 26.85 12.729
and it HAS only risen by 10% so it must have been a different offer beforehand or the figures sent were wrong, sorry.
And i've worked within the energy market for over 8 years with more than one company, and if you read back i DID say SP's increases were high and i wasn't i wasn't just defending sp i was defending the increases the companies have made and will be making VERY soon,as i feel it's how the media twist things and don't say everything in order to sell stories and papers.
And i was merely giving my opinion as to what i think is the best option in a volatile market that is worsening0 -

If you look back to post 2, my reply was that my standing charge had increased by more than 50%. Are you suggesting that SP have sent me thw wrong information?
You do also realise that Scottish Power charge different rates depending on the host area?:money:0 -
and no i dont do customer service for sp,but i know they operate a callback service to decrease waiting time0

yes i realise the pricing structure in the market ive worked within energy for over 8 years,i understand your previous post. they may have sent wrong info i do doubt that though, most likely scenario is it was not a standard tariff beforehand so the other 40% remainder of the increase was probably from offer to standard then standard increase of 10% making in 50%. im aware you say it was standard prior but that may be wrong is what i was saying0

And what are you basing your opinion on? I can assure you that it is a standard tariff...:money:0 -
opinion is based on sp having a 10% increase on their standard tariff, that is a fact. im not saying you are incorrect i am saying the increase was 10% ie 10p to 11p. a lot of customers went up a lot due to offers ending so their offer prices went up to the standard rate of old then incurring standard increase of 10%. i never said or implied you were wrong merely giving a suggestion as that has happened a lot, if not that then im sure there is another rational explanation but media arent covering up larger increases and stuff as some other people have suggested. the bottom line is it was a large increase i agree but it was 10% on standard price0
