I have to admit i am amazed at the amount of customers who are out there who don't know what type of offer they are on,don't understand bills or offers and don't seem to understand how the price increases effect different types of offers in different ways.
Heard some people say that the offer they were on ended and their price went up by xx% NO IT DIDN'T what happened is your cheaper deal ended and you went onto a standard offer which is usually dearer after a long term offer, there is a difference.
Seems to me from reading the posts on here so many customers are having knee jerk reactions and jumping ship (mainly because they are unsure of increase) instead of finding out what they're company can do for example, Scottish power customers can go onto either:
Online energy Saver 14 or Capped June 2013
to name just 2 and neither is effected by increase on 1st August

Sorry but your comment does not make any sense.
My service charge increased from 17.36p to 31.47 for electric. That is an excessive increase and more than 10%. Thankfully I have already left SP to go to what is the cheapest tariff on the market for my consumption.:money:0 -
your service charge may have increased by that amount,i am not doubting that but as i mentioned Online energy saver i assume you too were on a similar deal so your agreement was to stay 2% below standard rates and that is still the case, would be til november 2011,they have done nothing wrong. scottish power are putting STANDARD prices up by 10% and 19% so anything tracked against standard goes up too, just that they may have let you miss out on previous increases which means you have this increase as well as ones you missed out so over the course of your agreement you were better off.0

I moved into a new house and it was already supplied by SP on a Standard tariff. My standing charge would increase by far more than 10% had I stayed with them.
I personally feel that it is very misleading when you think that my electric would have gone up by almost 80% yet the reported increase is 10%. What do you think about that?:money:0 -
was it always a standard tariff? ie before you went in?0
-
I would have no idea what tariff the previous tenant had. What I do know is that the Standard tariff I am currently on would increase significantly should I stay with them. Thankfully I signed up elsewhere the day I moved in.:money:0

in fact if you pm your payment method and postcode (or pes area if dont wanna give postcode) i would try and find out a possible reason to put your mind at ease if you like?0
-
i agree nobody should have an increase of anything like 80%,my point was merely there is usually a reason that gets over looked by some customers or isnt communicated properly to them0
-
Well I`d love to hear the reason then. The payment method was monthly bill and PES area 17.:money:0
-
well i will try to figure out why and get back to you0
-
Great, when will you post the reason?:money:0
