    Hello everyone,

I started comping this year and have won a few things (as you can see by my signature). I mainly do it for the excitement of possibly winning and never have an expectation that I am going to win (that way when I do, it's all the more exciting!)

    Good luck to all! x

Hi, I have comping since 2008 and the answers to all your questions can be summed up with......EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED!!

Compers who have been doing this for years will always say the same thing, you have to treat this as a hobby, its like window shopping, you fill in the comps and imagine what it would be like to actually win it, and each day you can hope that it may be the day the BIG win comes in.

But never, EVER expect to win, it leads to becoming disheartened, you should always be suprised to win, I am.

I enter about 50 - 100 comps a day and spend plenty of time on it, but thats because I enjoy it, I also dont enter to sell, only to give as gifts, I wont enter really expensive prizes if I could not use them or give them as gifts to my nearest and dearest.

This year I have been more casual than usual and get to enter a few at work (school nurse, so work is either really busy or not) and do an hour - 90mins in the evening.

Just enjoy the hope and excitement it brings you, its all luck and THAT can change at any minute!!!!!

Good Luck, I hope you get a win soon.

    Caroline xx
back to comping after a 2 year break!! Mission… to win a gift for all my family for Christmas!
  • I do about 40 minutes worth and have only started recently. I won a moisturiser which I was surprised and pleased about.

I can't afford alot of the nice things I'd like due to money worries but these competitions give me a little glimmer of hope.
Wins so far - Revlon Lip Butter, Teapigs Matcha tea, Johnsons Face Care Gentle Exfoliating Wash:j

I sit down in the evening and catch up on all the comps that are posted during the day that interest me (I don't enter if the prize is something I don't want) so usually around 70 - 100 maybe?

Only won little things so far but it's these little wins that keep me motivated and will keep me going until I win big!:D

hi peeps... im kinda losing the will to live at the mo....ive got a numb bum and a seriously painfull spasm going on in my back and wanted to get some positivity going.... how many hours is it worth putting in to this comping thingy..... and are u all glad u do it??? thanks peeps xxxx and even if i dont win... thanks 4 all the time spent posting comps to others, its such a great community x

Thanks for that. And there was me thinking it must be particularly bad just for my health all this comping as no one else has mentioned the back spasms but I've certainly had them on occassion and have now decided to take it easy and do less comping as I've been trying so hard this whole year yet not even won anything decent and it's been weeks since I've won anything at all - I think the comping fairy has forgotten about me so I've decided to get healthy and go to the gym more frequently instead! Sometims it does feel like comping sucks  all this effort you put in and you get nothing but back pains, sore eyes, headaches etc etc. but hopefully there will be at least one big win eventually.

Personally, I like to arrange them all into ascending time order and work my way through a couple of weeks worth. For example I'm doing some now, so i'll do from the 22/06 to about the 01/07 or whenever I get bored, then just enter the others that appear throughout the week.

I have a really bad habit of only entering the big competitions (holidays, phones, laptops...) and skipping over smaller prizes. I'm trying to force myself to enter EVERYTHING at the moment because I rarely win anything only entering big competitions (my last win was a Xperia phone in March, and before that was an iphone in January).

I wasn't impressed with Roboform, it really slowed down my browser and it couldn't fill in a lot of forms. I find Chrome's auto-fill a lot more useful.

August wins: Jessica Chivers coaching session, Bacardi welly, Nails Inc polish x 2, Aerobie, Simple Eyes pack, Disney Jr cinema tix, Heinz BBQ Sauces, Models Own mascara, Anchor memorabilia x 2, Lipsy necklace, Cushelle Koala x 2, Andrex Puppy, digital skills kit, play tent, tix for National History Museum, sweet vouchers, Paul Mitchell serum

I've only been comping for a couple of months but have had some fab wins. Most of my luck has been on Facebook. There's also some fab comps on Twitter but I'm starting to become disheartened with that as the same people seem to win all the big prizes on Twitter. I'm slightly dubious of the supposedly random draws! Anyway, if you haven't signed up to Facebook or Twitter yet for comps then do so!

I wonder the same thing about Twitter random draws. The people that win are often the ones who actively engage with the company - general chit chat before the comp ends. I wonder if it butters them up and then they hand out the prize to those people as they've drawn attention to themselves....so cynical aren't I :rotfl:

I enter as many as I can during my lunchbreak at work. It keeps me from popping to the shops and spending money that way! Last month was brilliant for wins but none for June so far, keep at it though and I'm sure you'll be lucky. You will tend to find like most of us that the wins are just little things but they are nice all the same.

Just wondering how many competitions everyone enters in one day.

Also do you enter all competitions posted or just the ones you like the sound of?
