Best Broadband Deal in London?

Hey everyone,
I live in Central London, in a flat in Soho, and I have no telephone line or cable box or anything in my flat. However, I am looking to purchase broadband and already had a look at Sky Broadband which looks quite good.
My question is, considering the above what is the best options I have for broadband? If I go with Sky then it seems I have to pay some silly line rental which I would never even use, however I would like to purchase their TV package for use on my computer (Sky Player).
Otherwise, what other options have I got?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Will.

I'm not sure you need to have Sky broadband to buy the online Sky subscription service. Might be wrong on that though, do check if it's important.
The Westminster area has cable ducts but IIRC they have never been used, so there's no cable service available.
The best choices where you are would appear to be Sky and O2/BE.
Unless you can have cable, which you can't, or you use wireless (and there is indeed a wireless provider called Urban WiMax in your area) you have to rent a phone line for the broadband service to be supplied down (it isn't the case in all countries but it is here) so that applies to both the above, you can't avoid that.
So in terms of pricing, add together the quoted line rental and broadband to get one single comparable price among providers.
The phone line will cost £85 to install with either of those, I think, and someone will arrive and fit a box to the wall.0 -
You could use mobile broadband while you are investigating: I have a flat in London and I cancelled my BT line a while back. I use 3 network's prepaid dongles, and top them up with SIMs from eBay.
I don't play games or download films and music: I would use up my allowance in no time if I did. 3gb lasts up to 3 months - more like 2 for me - and costs around £7.
I am delighted with it: no contracts or giving details of cards etc. I pay in advance and the allowance expires in 3/12 months or when used up.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

The 'silly' line rental is what enables you to get an ADSL broadband signal to your flat. The network doesn't maintain itself for free, so no alternative to paying line rental.
Go to https://www.samknows.com and do an exchange search for the LLU providers in your area, they will be the best broadband deals on your exchange..No free lunch, and no free laptop0
