I disagree, its done a lot more than other bodies charged with consumer protection. Ofgem is a bad jokebut it doesn'tcost much as its funded by some kind of levy from the industry I believe. This does nothing to dissaude people fom the view that it is too close to the companies it is supposed to police.

We can see who is more effective from the NPower example. Ofgem totally fudged it, coming up with an average of £6 payout. Consumer Focus, despite having no real teeth secured much higher recompense. I know who I want on my side as a consumer....

And so does "Dave," when it comes to appeasing his rich friends and contributors.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark
  • Geraint Davies, MP for Swansea West, has challenged the Government over plans to abolish Consumer Focus. See his website for more details.
