the broband wont necessarily be £7.50, that price change only came in last year and the op may have signed up when it was £10, not £7.50
No i've been with sky about 3 years now .so they should be charging me £7.50 ? .

there's your problem. it was a downwards price change last year. the only way to take advantage of that would be to sign for a new 12 month contract for broband.

    ha, i like it

dear sir, i politely, but adamantly, must insist that at whatever cost or odds, if at all possible, that i be put on the lower price for my broadband by signing a new contract. it is completely unacceptable, but perfectly understandable & reasonable, that i am paying the amount i signed up for and fervently demand (thankfully request) that this situation be rectified immediately. i will not shift off this phone until it's sorted. you'll call me back? wonderful, bye!

i often find myself giving out polite hell. absolutely foaming at the mouth with insincerity and calm, pacing the living room in a relaxed manner

I would suggest asking to be given the 12 month half price deal!

There can be a bit of downtime if you're unlucky. Sky in particular don't seem to be as good as handing over the service to other SP's as they are in taking it over.

If you are on Sky's network for both broadband and telephone, then you can't just switch broadband suppliers, you would have to cease both with Sky and take out a contract with BTfor your phone. When thats done you can look for another ISP.
If however you still have a BT line then you can swap without difficulty.
