Do you mean the red firefox button at the top is showing.
Click on this and a menu drops down, hover over the help button and another menu drops down, click on Troubleshooting Information tab. Follow on from there.

Hi, Thanks for still trying to help me, When i go on the Firefox page, the message i quoted earlier appears, i click ok, and then my normal homepage appears, but it just will not let me do anything, i click on things but nothing happens, The Firefox icon is on the top left hand side with File Edit etc on the top, which it lets me go to firefox troubleshooting, the application Basic page appears, but once i click on, OPEN CONTAINING FOLDER a new page comes up, but all the top of it is blurry/fuzzy so i can,t see the Firefox icon or File Edit etc.

    1. In firefox, tools, options, sync. Set-up sync then
    2. Close firefox
    3. Delete/uninstall/remove firefox, when it asks do you want to keep firefox data say no.
    4. Use Ccleaner to clean the registry and remove left over components.
    5 restart computer
    6. Reinstall Firefox
    7. make sure that firefox works as expected - (your security issues)
    8. Re setup to your existing account in firefox sync but this wont reload any addons.

Thanks for your reply, I got to the Firefox sync page, with the option to create a new account which i have clicked on, but it will not connect. I am sorry that everything you suggest i can't do, appreciate the time you have spent.

Have you got any addons in firefox - can you disable them one by one and see if it fixes the problem?

Are you using latest version of Firefox?

Have you tried the re-install suggestion?

    There is solution here http://kb.mozillazine.org/Could_not_initialize_the_browser_security_component

Hi, We are using Fierfox 4.0.1 i think I have tried un install/reinstall not sure if that is what you mean, as i say i am no good with computers, they are great when working, but i get so frustrated when we have any problems and feel like throwing it through window, today is one of those days lol, I did go to tools add ons but when i click it to open nothing happens, i know there is some problem why it is not responding, but not what the problem is, We have Firefox on a different laptop which i am using now, and when i clicked on tools, add ons a list of add on showed up, so i take it we have add on, on the pc we are having problems with. thanks for your suggestions.

    Ok, One last go.

    Could you try this 1st

Using your Computer Icon go to

    C:\Users\XXXXXXXX\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\yyyyyyy.default\

where XXXXXXX is your account name in windows
where yyyyyyy is your firefox profile name

Right-click on the file named cert8.db.
Choose Properties. A dialog will come up.
    Go to the General tab.
Make sure the Read-only checkbox is not checked.
    Press OK.

Restart Firefox and the problem may be fixed.

If this wont work try this -

    1. From CCleaner, tools,uninstall
    2. Single left click to highlight firefox, then click run uninstaller.
    3. A popupbox for the firefox uninstaller will appear. follow the prompts to uninstall
when it asks do you want to keep firefox data say no.
    4. Use Ccleaner to clean the registry and remove left over components.
    5 restart computer
    6. Reinstall Firefox

Then on your other laptop setup firefox sync.

On the newly installed firefox sync to the exiting account that you created from the other laptop.
