Vailiant Combi - Circuit Board How Much ?

Hi - To cap the worse run of luck in history I got home from my first day back at work after a major car accident to find my central heating had gone off. I called a local company and they just left saying that they have to order a part - printed circuit board and would call me tomorrow. I asked how much it is likely to cost and they said they wouldn't know until tomorrow but now I am panicking - I have earned £400 since the end of September and my savings are now non existent.
Can anyone tell me how much I am looking at paying out ? I'm a single girl and always a bit wary of being ripped off !!!
Thanks
Hx

P.C.B 130330 £74.89[Vat exc.]
P.C.B 130331 £112.35[Vat exc.]
P.C.B 130806 £110.39[Vat exc.]
P.C.B 252957 £81.08[Vat exc.]
The above are prices for Vailiant PCB prices from online bolier spares
Depends which boiler you have, you didnt specify, if you look at the onlineboilerspares website and search on vailiant, then click on each pcb it gies a list of the boilers each pcb is for, i would expect the plumber to put a reasonable markup on these prices.
time to change the pcb shouldnt be more than one hour tops
if its dragged out any longer just to change the pcb then someones taking the mick0 -
This is just what I wanted to read - many thanks.
I have a Vailiant combi which was new a few years ago, and has hardly been used as it is a second home - I have now discovered when I put the boiler on after about 10 mins the electrics go off throughtout the house and the boiler cuts out. I called a plumber round he fiddled about and bang, he said you need a new pcb will cost you £450.00, plus he tried to get me to pay £50.00! I will check out what model I have .....0 -
If it were me I would order the board myself and exchange the board, however that is knowing electrical work as well as having worked on boilers before.
If you know anyone who has an idea about electrics you could ask them to have a look for you.
Online boiler spares are OK to deal with, they are relatively local so I have not used their online ordering, just over the counter.
The thing I have found with some plumbers is they dont seem to have very well honed fault finding skills and approach things like this with the attitude:-
1. Whats the most likely cause - change it,
2. Whats the next most likely cause - change it,
3. repeat two till it works.
Note to any plumbers reading this - I only said SOME plumbers.0 -

I got done in the same way a few years back. I was furious as a few weeks later I watched some BBC dodgy dealers programme which detailed the whole scam! Ended up replacing the boiler.
How do some people sleep at night?0
