In a nut shell depends what you have been referred for . If you have failed to satisfy the availability or actively seeking element of job seekers allowance then you claim is suspended until a decision is made. If you have failed to attend, refused a job, left a job.......(the list goes on) then provided you satisfy the above you will get paid whilst a decision is being made.

From my experience you are paid when you put in your claim until the decision is made which can take some time.

the reason for possible sanction is that my partner didnt put enough detail down in his booklet and the lady took a photocopy of it and made him sign something and said that they will be in touch, but yet today he signed on as normal as nothing was mentioned so i don't know whats happening?

Your partner would have been asked to fill out a form explaining why they've not done sufficient to look for work - did they?

Then if they didn't consider that enough, he'll probably have been suspended pending the outcome and no you won't be paid.

Best to call the Benefit's centre & ask whether payment has been issued or not.

How long does it usually take to hear back from them and how long can you be suspended for? Also today when he signed on as normal they didnt mention anything about what had been said the other day?

as long as he is telling the truth i.e. is actively looking for work - i dont see why his benefit should be suspended???

do they not believe he is looking for work?

for how long has he been unemployed?

They have never queried it before but on thursday he had one of them interviews at the job centre and he saw someone that he has never seen before, she asked him if he thought he was doing enough within his jsag and he said yes, and she looked at his book and said he hadn't put enough detail etc. She then photocopied his book got him to sign something then said she was writing to another benefits delivery place to see what they say. He has been out of work for nearly a year now and has applied for loads of jobs but most of them don't even have the courtesy to get back to him. Today he went to job centre as is his signing day and saw someone else and they never mentioned anything from the previous thursday so guess its just a matter to see if anything comes through the post now!
