anyone else regularly fly Ryanair to Biarritz?

Has anyone heard anything about any possible issues with this route? Some months ago, Pau was shut down as a Ryanair destination as the Pau airport wouldn't pay Ryanair a huge annual fee.
I am v dependent on either airport, particularly though Biarritz.
Also: anyone else noticed just how pricey Biarritz flights have become? There's almost never a special offer from Stansted and never ever in summer.
So much for 'cheap' flights: I recently flew to Bordeaux and hired a car to drive to my destination 3 hours away, rather than fly to Biarritz as Ryanair that weekend was more than £150 more than BA+ car hire
This was booking 10 days in advance, but I've checked 3 weeks+ in advance and it's still really expensive.
Easyjet only do the summer month/s and they are expensive on that route too.
I've flown 3x to visit mates in Oslo for the price of 1 ticket to BTZ. I just wondered if it was an ominous sign that the route was so expensive, perhaps the airport are also "negotiating" their annual deal with Ryanair? If Biarritz shuts, I am in trouble - I need to be about 3/4 hour from there and there's no other route. BA to Bilbao is a non runner these days too.
Anyone got any info please? I am worried.
