  • That would have been funnier if you'd said 'erection' instead of 'assembly'. I love using rudey words in a legitimate context.

    Satisfaction with every erection!

  • Thanks for all your time and assistance with this matter.
To clarfy a few points :
The two major faults were caused by the roofing material being too thin. The tacks supplied and used to fasten the felt to the roof where too long knocking chuncks of the roof out from the inside and exposing the nail head. This would only be noticed after the roof was fitted and the roof is obviously one of the last jobs in building it. The floor is also far too thin and flimsey for appropriate usage. Only when the house is constructed onto the floor do you really know this. There were also another 10 problems of general poor quality which I'll save you the details on.
I had it built by a joiner because I am busy running a buisness and don't have the time. I am by trade an enginer and more than capable of putting together a shed. The costs are genuine and the preserver / water proofing paint expensive as I know what is good.
I can quote the company directly from the instructions with regard to the advice given to painting : 'To validate your guarantee and for better proctection against weathering it is ESSENTIAL that you treat the garden building with a wood preserver within 3 months of assembley.'

I also do agree that Erection is an entertaining word used in any context. Thanks
  • Further to my ongoing dispute, Tescodirect have agreed to refund me £300 from the inital purchase cost. Obviously I will need to use this money to correct the poor quality componets, regardless, I am really happy with the result.
This forum gave me more opinion than actual fact, however, you did advise me to contact Comsumer direct who were very good. They advised me exactly were I stand and gave me this statement to quote back to tescos -

‘I am entitled to repair, replacement or refund and to any out of pocket expenses incurred as a result of unsatisfactory quality goods.’

I advised that they either replace and cover all my costs or refund £300 and I'll repair the summer house myself. I guess they felt that they had no option but to compily with my request, £300 being the cheaper option for them overall.

    Thanks again !

    Glad it worked out okay.

It's always good when someone who had a problem comes back and lets everyone know the outcome, especially if it was a good result.
