Sherbet,
Would you be able to tell which are the best holiday parks on IOW. Not sure if you can answer this as you probably never holiday on IOW but it's worth a shot. Thanks alot.
I would also recommend Landguard Holiday Park or Lower Hyde Holiday Parkand I also think that Whitecliff Bay in Bembridge is a perfect setting for familys, my sister used to work there and is a big complex with plenty of entertainment and 20minute drive to anywhere you would like to go. I personally live in the town Ryde, which if you can find accomodation here it is lovely, the beach is right outside your window (the best beach on the island i think) and many highlghts of the island are only a short drive away or on your doorstep in Ryde.
You may also want to check out Gurnard Pines Holiday Park and Thorness Bay Holiday Park, these two are in Cowes and are lovely if you want to be right near the sea and boats, especially when such events as Cowes Week are taking place, absolutely loads to do! I always book a week of work that week as I always find its amazing to be a part of!
Happy holidays!0 -
We went to Gurnard Pines on the last Sun Deal (and enjoyed it so much we are off there for a full week on Monday!!!)
Its much much quieter than the other sites - no 'flashy' entertainment, but does have a softplay, playground and swimming pool, and also offers a range of 'paid for' activities like archery, fencing etc.
I have a new claim to fameI spoke about the Olympics ticket fiasco on Martin's daybreak slot :money:

anyone that has booked this before, how much extra does it really end up costing? i 'felt' a bit stung when i booked the £15 daily mail one and ended up paying a fortune in compulsory extras. but i do like the idea of a cheapy holiday.

we stayed in Whitecliffe bay and it was lovely. The rabbits were so tame they would sit and wait to be fed and the staff were very helpfulMad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -
This is what has put us off, we did the sun £9.50 holidays years ago but found by the time you paid for 'entertainment passes' and bed linen etc it wasn't as cheap as it first appeared.
I think they do add extra charges on, so you are right they are never just £9.50. However we always use them as they are still a damn good deal - and have never felt ripped off or anything. The enterntainment passes, and all extras you can OPT out of if you like - which is what we do. Normally we will say no to any extras such as bedding etc and only pay for the entertainment passes. I always take my own bedding - theres no way i am payng £20 to sleep on their crusty sheets hahaha. The only compulsory one I have ever had was a £30 key deposit, which we got back anyway.
I love the cheapy hols, always nice caravans - great price. We are going IOW in a couple of weeks, cant wait. The opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
anyone got an idea on the dates that will be included
would love to go IOW anyone tried Nodes Point0 -
said it before and i will say it again ..............
ALWAYS check to see how much it would be to book direct with the site BEFORE booking via the SUN !
as often if you can go during term time, it will be cheaper to book direct
of course if you can only go during school holidays like us ! you will save loads of £'s !
ps read reviews on tripadvisor.com and other sites BEFORE booking !0 -

it all depends on when you go on holiday though, if you book when schools are open, invarably you may find it cheaper booking direct with park, if you book for 6 weeks holiday or half terms then it will be alot cheaper booking through the sun, as an example, a couple of years ago we managed to book butlins bognor for oct half term(mon-fri), we phoned up and extended it to include the halloween weekend(fri-mon) and upgraded, all in all we got a full week at butlins for under £300, and if we had booked direct with butlins the exact same holiday would have cost over £700:eek:, so there are savings to be madeTake every day as it comes!!0
