How long do myths last?

Seriously, how long?

Cameron pledged that the NHS was safe in his hands. Well, no one agreed with his reforms, & he had to re-write them. Now we find that the tinkering done so far is causing it to get worse, not better:

Prior to the election, the conservatives were at pain to show their "caring, compassionate" side. Now however, they want the disabled to undercut other workers - giving the CBI an excuse to offer sub NMW salaries to disabled people under the pretence that they are giving them a helping hand. Yet another form of divide & conquer. I don't believe any of the boolsheet that MP came out with, he said what he said because he doesn't feel disabled people should earn as much as non-disabled people.

Oh, and cancer patients will get their benefits reduced after 12 months, even if they are still undergoing treatment, despite all round cries of "foul".

These are your caring compassionate conservatives.

Never mind though, I'm sure they'll be blaming the previous government (still) for the problems.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Perhaps hospitals have less managers employed to fudge the figures now?;)

Robin Hood and King Arthur are still going strong.

The question is, will the numpties that bought the "compassionate conservative" lie and put their X in a box that they hadn't considered for 10 years previously do it again.

A few miss leading statements all through your post.
The reality is no government of any creed could have kept paying out for the NHS as it was. Something had to give.

i agree with you that all workers doing the same job irrellevent of anything should get the same pay for the same work

However it is not as simple as saying ALL cancer patients will lose benefits after 12 months.
Those undergoing treatment stay in the support group of ESA and there is NO time limit for this. under the new proposals this doesn't change.

Those that have finished treatment are moved onto the work group of ESA on which they can claim on a non meantested basis for 12 months after which they are means tested. To lose all the ESA it is then the same/simular rules as jSA/income support ie savings above 16k, or a partner working more than 24 hrs or earning more than £149 per week.

However the situation is further complicated in that if the partner works once the ESA ends if they are on a low income (£149 is about 7k a year and would come in to this) they would get either a higher rate of tax credits or qualify for tax credits.

So not as simple a statement as you made. btw not necessarily defending the policy, but some stuff has to be cut, it was never an option to keep spending despite what the Labour party might say.

i reckon the principle is right, just the levels may be a bit low for earnings, savings fair enough.

Interestingly the people I know working in the NHS reckon the targets have been cheated for years to make things look like they were being hit all the time, perhaps now things are more honest?

Oh wow, come on. That's so spun it's not even close to the truth. It's not "they". It's not giving anyone excuses as it's not happening.

ONE MP stated it, and the government quickly made steps to distance themselves.
A spokesman for the Conservatives insisted that Mr Davies’ comments “do not reflect the views of the Conservative Party and do not reflect Government policy”.

A Downing Street spokeswoman added: “The Government would reject any suggestion for disabled people to be able to opt out of the national minimum wage

It is in no way government policy. Or indeed, planned policy.
